Cascades of Lights in San Jose, Costa Rica by Benjamin Garcia Saxe

Saturday, November 1st, 2014

Article source: Benjamin Garcia Saxe

Framing and fading the view become guidelines for the imagination; where an escape from the city is built and transported into a fictional world that is dancing with the wind, and light plays absorbed by its threads that catch between their frames a changing landscape.

Vasas Sports Hall Facade Competition Entry in Budapest, Hungary by A4 Studio Ltd.

Tuesday, October 28th, 2014

Article source: A4 Studio Ltd.

Designed by A4 Studio, their design proposal for the new facade for the Budapest Vasas Sports club, one of the oldest and most successful sports associations in Hungary, won the realistic dream project award in the Trimo Architectural Awards competition. The novelty of the planned façade is the plasticity of the manner in which the sports figures are represented. The basic system: the embossed Art Me TRIMO laminated panel. It souter appearance incorporates one single simulated gold metal surface (with varying hues of gold), a reference to the previous sports successes of the club. More images and architects’ description after the break.

‘Pleated’ and ‘woven’ façade for Jing Mian Xin Cheng in Beijing by SPARK Architects

Sunday, September 28th, 2014

Article source: Spark Architects

SPARK’s ‘pleated’ and ‘woven’ façade for the award-winning mixed-use development Jing Mian Xin Cheng in Beijing demonstrates that depth of experience need not be forgotten despite the speed of the central city’s expansion. ‘Pleats’ of perforated aluminium sheeting and a ‘weave’ of rippling windows resolve a variety of practical issues while referencing a textile market that formerly operated on the site.

May/September : Eskenazi Hospital Parking Structure Art Facade in Indianapolis, IN by Urbana Studio

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

Article source: Urbana Studio

This project began with an interest in challenging the typical notion of the parking structure as an unappreciated infrastructural typology by transforming the new Eskenazi Hospital parking structure into a binary, synthetic terrain. The effect of a field of 7,000 angled metal panels in conjunction with an articulated east/west color strategy creates a dynamic façade system that offers observers a unique visual experience depending on their vantage point and the pace at which they are moving through the site.

OFFICE OFF in Burgenland, Austria by heri&salli

Friday, August 8th, 2014

Article source: heri&salli

The architect’s office heri & salli from Vienna designed in Burgenland/Austria on behalf of the façade design company “FOB-face of buildings” a new office building made of wood.

Though normally a place dedicated to “work”, from the beginning the concept of quality of life and leisure culture took a mayor part in the planning. The traditional aspect of “going to work” therefore has received minor consideration.

Constituyentes Illuminated Facade in Mexico City, Mexico by Taller David Dana Arquitectura

Tuesday, April 15th, 2014

Article source: Taller David Dana Arquitectura

This Project is located at Constituyentes 1072, one of the main avenues in Mexico City. The architectural approach integrates a front entry plaza that works as a boundary or transition between the building and the street. The office complex integrates 5 levels and has the great advantage of inserting natural day lighting in all four facades. All the floor plans are equal besides the fifth floor which has a frontal cantilever that is being supported with a metal structure of 23 meters of altitude. The main disadvantage of this structural skeleton was that is exposed in an area of high exposure.
