Friday, November 22nd, 2013

Article source: Pott Architects

The Havelwerke are a place for originals since over a hundred years. On the site of a former prussian powder factory the users have always produced, collected, preserved, presented their goods. The tradition of this special place is now the studio’s guideline. Pott Architects developed a masterplan to design the industrial park homogeneously.

The Monteroni D’Arbia former tobacco factory area is an opportunity to take up the challenge of a historic building of great physical, social and economic significance. Important in both physical and social terms, this area was a focal point in community life for the whole town and restoration work on it aims to rebuild a fragment of social fabric which is to be entrusted with a strategic re-appropriation role of the town’s physical and social dimension.

Recently, Mozilla Japan’s new office’s ground floor was designed by NOSIGNER. They designed all furnitures based on the idea of Open Source. They used general products and uploaded all drawings to the website. Therefore, these designs might also be able to call the “open source furniture” so to speak. Because these designs enable everyone to make functional office furnitures inexpensively

Chocolats Bovetti in Terrasson-Lavilledieu, France by CA/PA Architectes

Friday, May 3rd, 2013

Article source: CA/PA Architectes

The extension project of the chocolate factory covers the three objectives outlined by the client.

  • Increases the production surface in the context of the existing factory,
  • Expands the administrative areas,
  • Restores the museum and shop.

With a contemporary spirit in mind, the materials and the colours used also fits into the traditional method of chocolate presentation. The wood evokes the colour of the cocoa export boxes, while the the top inset glass windows are framed with dark brown metal, reminding the onlooker of the paper wrapper of the goods.

Thursday, March 14th, 2013

Article source: Tolila+Gilliland

This is not a shed. This is an island. The question posed by the client/artist was the possibility of a cultural island in an industrial site, the concrete fabrication of a utopic site for living, research and production. The architectural response is the result of a research towards a vocabulary of elements which could give meaning to this ambition.
