NEW FIRE STATION in Gubbio, Italy by Menichetti+CaldarelliSunday, July 12th, 2015Article source: Menichetti+Caldarelli The new operational barracks of the Fire Department of Gubbio is the result of a competition won in 2010 .Private initiative provided for the possibility of hosting leased passive body of firefighters .The building is the completion of an old structure not completed .The purpose of the project was to complete and expand the existing structure already partially buffered .The operation after the structural concrete infill continued dry slabs of concrete .The expanded volume is configured with rational aspect and serial interrupted by the volume scale , crown – wall aluminum sheet , painted red . On the ground floor workshop and garage vehicles will be covered and enclosed by glass industrial U -Glass , which will lighten the base and illuminate an evenly filtered space . The project site is located in Sint-Jacobsmarkt,inside the Boulevards and is therefore part of the old city centre inside the 16th century city walls. A spatial development with various vistas makes the organization clear and transparent, allowing visitors a glimpse of the dynamic environment of the fire station. The robust brick building is designed as a villa in the green and has obtained an A+ energy label. It is embedded in its ecological structure, situated next to an important route for bats. Fire Station in Utrecht ,The Netherlands by Van Rooijen Nourbakhsh ArchitectenSaturday, March 23rd, 2013Article source: Van Rooijen Nourbakhsh Architecten The program consists of a garage for 3 fire trucks, dressing rooms, workshops office and instructions areas and a cafeteria. The fire station is situated in a suburban area with mainly traditional housing. On the relatively small site a two floor building was designed with a cubic shape. The floor plans are very compact and functionally designed to support speedy action in case of fire and emergencies. One has to reach a calamity within 8 minutes.
