Sunday, May 5th, 2019

Article source: v2com

La Clara, a 25-storey residential tower overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, will stand as a secluded and refined oasis in one of South Florida’s most prestigious communities. With spaces created for peaceful living and perfect luxury, La Clara will feature one to three-bedroom residences that range from 1,500 to over 3,000 square feet and with three luxurious penthouse floors at the top. Most residences will have a south-east facing private terrace with panoramic ocean views that allows for plenty of natural light but still offers an ideal privacy. The masterfully imagined design for La Clara offers residents the sense of comfort that comes with a warm and welcoming home while evoking feelings of luxury and indulgent extravagance. The solid elements of the tower will be clad in white stucco while the podium levels feature Roman travertine, coral stone, and granite with bronze accents. Amenities will include a spa, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness room, club room, indoor/outdoor private dining, a bar and lounge, as well as a private tasting room.

Namur Province Administrative Centre in Belgium by Philippe SAMYN and PARTNERS sprl, architects & engineers

Friday, April 19th, 2019

Article source: Philippe SAMYN and PARTNERS sprl, architects & engineers

Sponsor’s vision

Province Administration is bringing almost all its services together in one building to be constructed at its Salzinnes site. By establishing itself on the outskirts and at the edge of the Sambre River rather than in a high-profile city centre Namur Province has plumped for a high-impact yet sensitive position, to reflect how it regards its role.

This site should act as a city-level focal point with the outlying area serving to complement the centre. Consequently, the idea is to create a structure that has the ability to generate a deep affection for this new intellectual centre in Namur.

The image that springs to mind is of a village centre reflecting the province’s rurality and symbiotic relationship with nature. An invitation to our five senses to experience pleasure through the channel of art and culture.

The construction of the Namur Province Administrative Centre (MAP) will involve huge financial and environmental costs. The project seeks to obtain the maximum number of BREEAM credits, while highlighting the limits of this approach, as well as the questions raised. The project achieves a score of 93.53 %, or 8.53 margin points above “Outstanding” level.

Student Recreation Center Expansion in Tucson, Arizona by Sasaki

Monday, April 1st, 2019

Article source: Sasaki

Sasaki’s addition to the student recreation center at the University of Arizona in Tucson cuts an impressive silhouette against the Sonoran Desert landscape. The 54,000-square-foot addition doubles the amount of space for cardio-fitness and strength conditioning and diversifies the center’s recreational program offerings. The structure is a genuine expression of the student body’s commitment to health, wellbeing, and sustainability—inspired and informed by the very people whom the center is intended to engage. Since opening in 2010, participation has increased 91%, general use of fitness equipment has increased 150%, wait times have been eliminated, membership has increased 10.5%, and 10 new programs have been initiated. The building is LEED® Platinum Certified—the first collegiate recreational facility to be designated as such.

Duna Arena in Budapest, Hungary by NAPUR architect LtD.

Wednesday, March 27th, 2019

Article source: NAPUR architect LtD.

The restoration and modernization of Hungarian swimming pools, as well as expanding the existing pool facilities is a long-standing demand of athletes and the part of the general public devoted to swimming. Due to economic and reasonable considerations, the investments took place simultaneously with the developments tied to the 2017 FINA world championship in Budapest.

The Hungarian capital city of Budapest originally won the right to host the 2021 FINA World Aquatics Championships in 2013, yet the previously designated site of the world championship, Guadalajara, Mexico unexpectedly withdrew from hosting the event in March 2015. At the time, Budapest and the Hungarian government accepted the undertaking of hosting the event four years earlier, in 2017. Therefore, whilst previous bidders had six to eight year for the preparations, Hungary had a total of two years to prepare for the world championship, construct the arena for the competitions and complete the related investments.
