Contemporary Japanese Garden in London, U.K by MyLandscapes LTD

Wednesday, April 9th, 2014

Article source: MyLandscapes LTD

The 250sqm site runs east to west and is surrounded by two buildings, a perimeter wall and open on the western side. Initially the ground was pretty level and laid to paving blocks, allowing access to the buildings but serving not much purpose and fairly static. The project took 3 months to build during the wettest winter in the British Isles at a cost of £140,000.

Saturday, February 15th, 2014

Article source: BRENDAN CALLANDER

This garden shed was designed and constructed in partnership between UBC architecture students and the Woodlands Community Garden Club. This structure is the focal point of the garden.

It acts as a gathering spot for local education programs and provides a practical storage solution. The unique form of the shed was designed to prevent shadows from being cast on surrounding garden plots while at the same time shading the central meeting space.

Greenhouse Botanical Garden in Grueningen, Switzerland by idA

Sunday, November 10th, 2013

Article source: idA

The new pavilion at the botanical garden at Grueningen relates strongly to its context. The design was inspired by the surrounding forest, not the built environment. Both the formal vocabulary and the structural concept derive from nature. The pavilion is conceived to harmonize with and expand the forest.

Saturday, November 2nd, 2013

Article source: SPACESPACE

This site is situated at a residential area in Ikoma-city, Nara where is little colder in winter compared to the inner-city of Osaka. But it shares a border with Osaka and the residents can commute in only 30 minutes, so it functions as a bedroom suburb of both Osaka and Nara. This area is a typical suburban residential area of Japan and designed to satisfy the orthodox practices of city planning. The inner road and the building distance are wide enough and each house has the southern garden.
