BENT Annexe in Melbourne, Australia by BENT Architecture

Tuesday, March 19th, 2019

Article source: BENT Architecture

Step out of your caravan into the shade and fresh air, protected by a canvas annexe which frames a view of the lush landscape beyond. This experience was the inspiration behind BENT Annexe, an addition for a delightful family of four and their two adorable Dachshunds. Because every day should feel like a breath of fresh air, surrounded by nature.

BENT Annexe adds additional living space to a 1960s home with a lot of charm, while also reconnecting it to the garden. In contrast to the heaviness and introspective nature of the original home, this new, light-weight and light-filled Annexe is open and outward-looking, feeling more like a sheltered place in the garden that a traditional living space.

“Hyde Park” Residence in Amsterdam, Netherlands by MANUELLE GAUTRAND ARCHITECTURE

Sunday, March 17th, 2019

Article source: MANUELLE GAUTRAND ARCHITECTURE

The project consists of a total of 400 housing units located in Amsterdam, in the Hyde Park district, whose master plan was produced by MVRDV.

The 400 homes are divided into nine buildings that make up “thematic” houses, and are organized around a landscaped island core. Each house is the object of a different architectural work, in its colors, its materials, its heights, its volumes, etc. Overall cohesion has been maintained under this apparent diversity, in order to create a harmonious “village” favoring well-being together. This project develops ambitious goals in environmental terms and integration of new uses.

Taichung Green Corridor in Taiwan by mecanoo architecten

Thursday, March 14th, 2019

Article source: mecanoo architecten

The 1.7km long former railway line crossing downtown Taichung was an important catalyst for the development of the old city. The railway’s historical value plays an important role in the revitalisation of the urban realm on which it sits.

Sustainable life, sustainable history & culture

Although in the past, the rail line was a mean of connection, the disused railway acts more as a divider due to its challenging location on the dyke, which impedes the circulation from one side of the tracks to the other.

Article source: Unsangdong Architects

Headquarter: A headquarter office is the place that understands the culture of the company and delivers comfort to workers; an architecture that embodies the corporate and realizes future value and dream. It should embody the essence of the corporate spirit that communicates with consumers and citizens.

Incorporating the corporate spirit of “Change and Innovation”: We aim to embody the corporate philosophy of Midong Electronics – to improve through continuous change and innovation. The building does not follow the form of existing architecture, rather embodies innovation.

Újpest New Market-Hall and UP Event Space in Budapest, Hungary by Firka Építész Stúdió Kft.

Sunday, March 10th, 2019

Article source: Firka Építész Stúdió Kft.

The market place, besides the city hall and the church, has always been the most important part of the center of the 4th district. However, from the 1970s on, the introverted late-modern market buildings and their service area occupied the public space of St. Stephen Square. The purpose of the current transformation is to give this space back to pedestrians and events by the forthcoming demolition of obsolete buildings, while the market is renewed within up-to-date frames.

BC 13 Residential in Bucharest, Romania by Cumulus Architecture

Friday, March 8th, 2019

Article source: Cumulus Architecture

We imagined the community life of this building centered around two urban, yet private courtyards. BC 13 unfolds around these two defining spaces, ensuring organic connections to its neighboring buildings. The brick paved and planted courtyards offer opportunities of interaction. Both access staircases as well as all the apartments benefit from a visual link with these courtyards, provided by large loggias and sill-less windows.

Carlanderska Hospital in Sweden by White Arkitekter

Thursday, February 28th, 2019

Article source: White Arkitekter

Where new meets old. By echoing the original plans, White Arkitekter’s new design of Carlanderska Hospital respects the landmark building’s well-known atmosphere and expression yet displays its own unique character.

New meets old

Carlanderska Hospital in Göteborg, Sweden, has provided specialist healthcare to public and private patients since 1927. The extension and transformation project primarily houses technology-intensive functions such as surgery, x-ray and sterilisation, but also adds new entrances, staff facilities and a restaurant. White Arkitekter used the same type of materials – red brick and a copper roof – for the extension as that of the original building, unifying the new with the old. The coloured joints and medieval-inspired brick pattern further ensures that the new structure naturally blends into the setting.

The architecture is dictated by two factors to enable modern care and treatment within the original site and correspond to the existing expression, Image Courtesy © White Arkitekter
