The LEGO Group New Campus in Billund, Denmark by C.F. Møller Architects

Tuesday, November 5th, 2019

Article source: C.F. Møller Architects

After four years of planning and construction, the LEGO Group opened the first phase of its new, state-of-the-art Campus at its headquarters in Billund, Denmark today. Designed by C.F. Møller Architects, the campus will span 54,000 square metres and house more than 2,000 employees when it is finished in 2021.

Hoping to express the core values of the LEGO Group: imagination, creativity, fun, learning, caring and quality, the inspiration for the new building came from a painting in the LEGO Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen’s office. In it, a boy proudly holds up his creation of a building made with LEGO® bricks. This gave the architects license to adopt a more playful approach to their design, something that is apparent in the details of the structure. These include the use of LEGO bricks in the exterior walls, the placement of two, gigantic yellow bricks on the roof, and an entryway made of bricks.

Port Operations Headquarters in Motril, Spain by Fresneda & Zamora Arquitectura

Friday, October 18th, 2019

Article source: Fresneda & Zamora Arquitectura

In 2017, the Port Authorities of Motril announced a contest for the new Headquarters of Port Operations of the National Police in order to control the activities carried out in the harbour. The proposed location between fishing vessels a few meters from the Mediterranean is strategic as a control point. This position together with the proximity of groundwater makes the design a sum of architectural and energy-related decisions with the goal of achieving a building with zero energy consumption. Formally, a strategy of sealing the corners and opening the interior spaces is chosen, with a system of courtyards that act as thermal regulators and contribute to the light quality and permeability of the interior.

Village Square Model For Wellness in Melbourne, Australia by Bates Smart Architects

Monday, October 7th, 2019

Article source: Bates Smart Architects

Australian architecture and interiors firm Bates Smart has completed its latest workplace project for healthcare provider Australian Unity.

Challenged with creating a new flexible workplace able to accommodate over 1000 staff, Australian Unity engaged Bates Smart to design a space providing connection between people, heritage and community. The hub-style workplace sits at the base of a tower on Melbourne’s Spring Street behind the façade of Mission Hall, a heritage building that was designed in the 1880’s by Bates, Peebles and Smart.

The design for the new headquarters focuses on wellness and enabling an agile, technology reliant workforce. Bates Smart created three floor ‘villages’, all connected via a large stairwell and void.

Cepovett Headquarters in Lyon, France by AUM PIERRE MINASSIAN

Friday, October 4th, 2019

Article source: AUM PIERRE MINASSIAN

This is a project for the extension and redevelopment of the Cepovett head office, the French head of professional clothing, located in Gleizé, in the Rhône.

The original building, built 15 years ago by aum, consists of 400 m² of offices and two warehouses of 5000 m². It was necessary to modify and enlarge this existing set in order to add 1800 m² of offices and 5000 m² of warehouse.

The idea behind this new project was to cut the existing office building in two and to create a notch inside the storage, thus revealing two intimist patios, visible only by the occupants of the building and offering a generous amount of light inside the offices.

Major General George White Headquarters in Salem, Oregon by SERA Architects

Sunday, September 29th, 2019

Article source: SERA Architects

SERA teamed on this integrated design-build project with Fortis Construction. The new Major General George White Headquarters facility provides an innovative workplace environment for both the Oregon Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. Set within a meadow, the headquarters contrasts with neighboring Oregon Military Department (OMD) facilities by foregoing brick—the dominant building material on the campus—and adopting a low-slung contextual building designed to visually merge with its natural setting. The place-based design concept —rooted in the particulars of the location—connects the indoors with the outdoors for a more productive and appealing work environment while lowering operating costs for the end-users.

The two-story, 50,000-square-foot building is composed of two independent wings connected via a two-story glass lobby. The building’s wings are gently swept back away from the central entry. The entry also serves as pre-function and breakout space for the adjacent assembly spaces, and as a gathering space for ceremonies. The lobby, which visually connects to the wetlands located behind the building, encourages users to take advantage of both indoor and outdoor spaces for informal meetings and workspaces. The entry’s central location is optimal in providing views throughout the building.

Sede CAF Región Sur – Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina in Montevideo, Uruguay by LAPS Arquitectos

Wednesday, September 18th, 2019

Article source: LAPS Arquitectos

“Sede CAF Región Sur” is the result of a national architecture competition promoted by the Development Bank of Latin‐American and sponsored by the local government of Montevideo in 2012.

By terms and conditions of the contest, a mix‐used program building was required, in the historic city center of Montevideo ‐ the “Old City”‐ a sector full of history and strong urban symbols, next to the limit with the “New Expanded City”.

The Bank headquarters, a cinema complex for “Cinemateca Uruguaya”, the relocation of the historic “FunFun” bar, 150 public parking lots and public changing rooms, are the main project areas. The conditioning and recovery of the immediate urban environment are key requirements of the entire proposal. The biggest challenge then was to achieve coexistence within a single building and urban space, such diverse functional requirements.

In the location behind the Solís Theater, there was an existing building, the Former Central Market, which was almost abandoned and deteriorated, as well as its nearby public spaces.

Blitz’s project includes the complete renovation of two office buildings on the 150,000-square-foot Marina Landing campus in Brisbane, CA, located just seven miles south of San Francisco. The goal of the building repositioning was to transform the location into a sought-after creative office campus. Pivexin Technology HQ – Office Building And Warehouse in Poland by MUS ARCHITECTS

Friday, September 13th, 2019

Article source: MUS ARCHITECTS

The aim of the project was to develop a comprehensive vision of the new headquarters of Pivexin Technology.

The designed space consists of an office building with social facilities, a warehouse and the land around the buildings including a driveway, parking area and decorative greenery.

Architectural Composition

Although the office building and the warehouse serve different functions, they needed to be connected to each other (due to the company’s activity). Therefore, we have merged the structures of both buildings and created a coherent and functional system of independent elements – one cuboidal block that includes different types of spaces.

The outer skin of the building is black, however, the two functional blocks – office and industrial – have been diversified.

Mrsteam Headquarters in Long Island City, New York by Olson Kundig

Wednesday, September 11th, 2019

Article source: Olson Kundig

This headquarters for a steam shower manufacturing company embraces the industrial nature of the firm’s business as well as the building itself, which MrSteam has occupied since the 1960s. Located in the commercial manufacturing district of Long Island City, the building contains MrSteam’s offices and manufacturing facilities. A minimal, bright redesign of the interior space highlights the raw, historic character of the hardworking building. The new design links past to present, revealing the original structural elements of the 1931 building with new insertions that meet the needs of MrSteam’s growing professional sales and operations staff.
