In order to create a headquarters that could easily cater to an international team of over 60 nationalities, sop architekten designed a global campus to provide the best experience possible for some 2,000 employees.

Comprising two new structures and a large open space, the site lies exposed at the foot of Hafenbecken A (Dock A) on Kesselstrasse. The organically shaped buildings open invitingly to the water and perform a playful, yet balancing role at the intersection of numerous urban lines and edges.

New headquarters of EY in Milan, Italy by DEGW Italia

Sunday, March 5th, 2017

Article source: DEGW Italia

EY is opening its new headquarters right in the heart of the old city centre of Milan, the first workplace of the future in Italy: a totally green, LEED-certified building with revolutionised spaces, cutting-edge technology and an innovative vision of how to work, designed by DEGW.

The new headquarters of EY, located right in the heart of old Milan city centre, has opened its doors as a totally green, renovated organism featuring revolutionised spaces, cutting-edge technology and an innovative vision of work. The project, by DEGW, Lombardini22 brand, has done so by redeveloping an entire block, “welding together” totally different structures built at different periods in time that seemed to be unsuitable for either the latest work methods or an innovative company like EY. The real challenge the project faced was to incorporate all the most highly developed modern-day work processes within the constraints imposed by history, turning every restriction into a fresh opportunity to enhance the space itself.

Between the group’s 38 divisions, Kolon covers research, primary material manufacture, and product construction – a unique configuration that enables the company to capitalize on its own resources and advances, and to forge innovative collaborations between divisions. Supporting this collaborative model was a primary goal behind the design of Kolon’s new Corporate Headquarters and Research Facilities. Bringing researchers, leadership, and designers together in one location, the building combines flexible laboratory facilities with executive offices and active social spaces that encourage greater interaction and exchange across the company.

AB MEDICA Headquarters in Milan, Italy by DEGW + Giuseppe Tortato

Friday, February 24th, 2017

Article source: DEGW

Offices are not usually designed inside a speedboat, but that is the metaphor chosen for the new headquarters of AB Medica in Cerro Maggiore, a project by Giuseppe Tortato. Specialists in developing and marketing sophisticated robots for medical purposes and DNA analyses, AB Medica opened its new headquarters in 2015 inside an “iconic” building in a suburban setting close to the high-speed Milan-Varese motorway, which is inspired by the distinctive shapes and forms of super-fast speedboats. Starting with a dynamically streamlined work of architecture that is also intended to embody the owner’s corporate philosophy based around innovation, AB Medica commissioned DEGW to design a new Space Planning and Interior Design project suitable for an unusual layout (partly due to constraints associated with an elongated triangular building lot) and capable of optimising all the spaces: a project, whose various operating levels encompass approximately 2000 m² of offices over an overall area of 9000 m² serving about 130 people, mainly focusing on the reception areas, ground-floor canteen and waiting area, first-floor client/meeting area and second-floor executive area and offices.

Slack’s new NYC headquarters in USA by Snøhetta

Thursday, February 23rd, 2017

Article source: Snøhetta

Slack is the fastest-growing workplace software in the world. With over 6 million active weekly users, the intra-office messaging system is revolutionizing the way teams communicate around the globe. For the startup’s New York City headquarters, Snøhetta retrofitted a 12,000 SF space on the top floor of an 1880’s landmarked building in Lower Manhattan’s NoHo/East Village neighborhood to provide a versatile, sunlight-filled office. The design of each of Slack’s offices around the world aims to integrate elements of their local context, and Snøhetta’s design for Slack’s new NYC space is inspired by the city’s distinctive urban courtyards. Drawing inspiration from interior parkscapes like Paley Park, bamboo plants provide natural privacy screens and energize the space with greenery. Four existing skylights with enlarged, splayed ceilings dramatically increase the incidence of natural daylight deep into the space and the pocket courtyards beneath them.

De Cecco Headquarters in Pescara, Italy by Studio FUKSAS

Tuesday, February 21st, 2017

Article source: Studio FUKSAS

The De Cecco Headquarters are an architectural landmark rising above an area of considerable town development. Two “edifices” linked by staircases and lifts, stand distinctly separate one on top of the other. The elevations of the cube-shaped lower part feature floor-to-ceiling glazing which hollows and lightens the sense of volume.
