United Continental Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois by Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura

Thursday, November 7th, 2013

Article source: Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura

The project for this 50-storey office block sought to favour the possibility of a panoramic view over the city, so that there is an evident predominance of glass on the façade while nevertheless avoiding the formulaic glass tower of arbitrary forms. The existence of the American tradition of skyscraper construction, with some especially attractive examples inChicago, suggested the need to reestablish a dialogue between the classicism of stone and the high-tech of glass.

Controlar Headquarters in Alfena, Portugal by ADOFF.ZURCATNAS

Thursday, October 24th, 2013

Article source:  ADOFF.ZURCATNAS

Concept

Based on the pre-existence of a large building which serves as a “skin” to maintain, the concept of action is based on dividing the interior space in “boxes” spaced to the existing construction and arranged according to the program and spans in the original facades. This proposal aims to build within the built and add without touching in order to integrate without merging two distinct approaches to architecture, the existing and the new proposal.

New ONO corporate headquarters in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid by ACXT Architects

Thursday, September 12th, 2013

Article source: ACXT Architects

The need to renew the premises of an office block located in a suburb in the north area of Madrid was perceived as a chance to make the most out of an underused building. One intervention after another had made it more and more meaningless, with a broken up and confusing spatial organization structure and an environment that made it difficult for it to be seen from the urban surroundings. The operation entailed a new space management policy for the company, which turned the building into its new corporate headquarters.

Red Rock HQ in Sydney, Australia by Rolf Ockert Design

Design Statement

In 2011 we were approached by a client we had built a house for to design the new office for his company. In his opinion the house we had designed for him is still “the best house in the world” and he expected nothing less for his new office fit out. Indeed the only design brief other than the number of workstations to be accommodated was that it had to be “funky”.

Skype HQ in California by Design Blitz

Sunday, September 1st, 2013

Article source: Design Blitz

Skype’s primary goal was to create a world-class o”ce that would di!erentiate them from their Bay Area competitors in the recruitment of talent. Their new space not only had to be a design statement that reflected their modern but fun personality, but it also had to meet very specific acoustic requirements to support the company’s extensive use of AV. Skype hired Design Blitz architects to design their new North American headquarters on an aggressive budget and schedule. Despite being one of several new o”ces that year for Skype, the completed project ultimately became the standard for the international communications company and also achieved LEED Silver certification.
