For its new headquarters in downtown Austin, the festival organizer South by Southwest (SXSW) sought an efficient, cutting-edge workplace with a unique image that would speak to the company’s collaborative culture. The building houses SXSW’s consolidated offices, with remaining office floors occupied by tenants with business and production relationships with the company. An ancillary goal of the project was to preserve a grove of heritage live oaks on the southern edge of the site.
Capitec Bank, one of the largest and most progressive banks in Africa, has unveiled its innovative new headquarters, iKhaya, meaning ‘home’ in Xhosa. Designed by multidisciplinary studio, dhk Architects, the three-storey curvilinear building is defined by its dynamic interior architecture, which embodies the company’s progressive outlook and embraces the concept of agile working. Swiss architectural and design practice Evolution Design, in partnership with Russian architectural office T+T Architects, has developed striking new headquarters for Russian bank Sberbank. An internal atrium acts as a remarkable centrepiece for the scheme, complete with a suspended, diamond-shaped meeting space, 20m high green walls and a series of cantilevered meeting rooms.
The project consists on the refurbishment an old and industrial building to lodge the new workspaces of the companies Verne architecture and BigD Design that matters. Originally, the space had two different areas: an initial space, about 5 metres high, located under a residential building from the 1950s; and an annexed space, larger and higher, which was originally an industrial shed. The access space is adjacent to Larrabide Street, on the ground floor, while the bigger space faces Santa Marta Street, on the first floor, due to the slope of the urban structure in this area.

SHA has won the competition for the headquarters of genome machine intelligence company iCarbonX in Shenzhen. The form of the two towers is inspired by a study of genes and DNA. The first tower, ‘Body A’ is residential, while the second, ‘Body B’ is the working program, with offices, labs, and public reception spaces. iCarbonX’s mission unfolding information is reflected through the building’s design.
The Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center is the new home of the Detroit Pistons and latest NBA training facility. Located in New Center area of Detroit, it is approximately two miles north of the Little Caesar’s Arena, where the team plays. The franchise moved into the facility in October, 2019.
The 185,000 SF multi-functional facility brings the Detroit Pistons basketball and business operations together into a new class of NBA training facilities and headquarters integrated on an urban campus. The Performance Center is adjacent to the new William Clay Ford Center for Athletic Medicine. A 125-foot enclosed glass walkway connects the building to give the team access to injury diagnosis and rehabilitative treatments.

The site is exposed at the foot of the harbour basin A on Kesselstraße and consists of two buildings and generous open spaces. The organically shaped structures open invitingly to the water and offer a playful balance at the intersection of the numerous building lines and edges of the MedienHafen.

It finds inspiration in the ways of our ancestors but also boldly explores new technological approaches and possibilities. In a field that is not commonly associated with innovation or bravery, the company makes its way as a progressive and creative one. The new company headquarters is to represent these values. The building is also a supportive example for the wood-based architecture and creative usage of timber as building material.
The timber industry is going through turbulent changes due to major shifts in climatic conditions. Company headquarters therefore has to be a flexible space, ready for advancements and change. We design places for creative work, research and innovation. The building is conceived as a case, given by the structure, and spaces inside are adjustable with reserves for an unexpected expansion.
