The Gustav in Amsterdam, The Netherlands by KCAP Architects&Planners

Thursday, February 18th, 2021

Article source: KCAP Architects&Planners

The Gustav, a residential ensemble of two individual buildings with various housing types for young professionals and starters, is completed. The project, designed by KCAP in commission of Zuidschans CV, a collaboration between developers BPD and AM, focuses on the well-being of the residents. With high-quality outdoor spaces on different levels, the buildings are a much appreciated asset in Amsterdam’s Zuidas area.

The Gustav adds two new buildings to the Gershwin area in Amsterdam Zuidas. As the city’s financial district, Zuidas is home of the World Trade Center Amsterdam and the Dutch hub for many international businesses. Fitting to the young target group, dwellers at the beginning of their housing career, the buildings’ material range is light and modern. Both volumes are composed of continuous horizontal bands filled with structured brick panels in a warm white tone: an architectural solution that adds luminosity to the street.

Three different buildings surround a large inner space. In this courtyard we find the car park. Partially closed and covered with vegetation, it offers the backdrop to the scene.

The buildings contain dwellings. They vary in volume and floor plan, and set out to configure an urban form that adapts to the place and the use.

The dwellings aim to offer high levels of interior quality and all have large outdoor terraces.

Up Mountain and Buitenplein Amstelveen in Netherlands by Rijnboutt

Wednesday, January 27th, 2021

Article source: Rijnboutt

On the east side of Amstelveen’s centre, the Up Mountain residential building recently rose from the ground to tower above the shopping area like a mountain village. The building, which has a rising staggered formation, resembles ice floes stacked on top of each other, or a mountain village built against a slope. Indeed, Up Mountain is an appropriate name for this eye-catching structure that’s invigorating the city centre.

Monday, January 18th, 2021

Article source: Atelier Maxime Schmitt Architecte

Indulging in the Sunday pleasure of idleness, a couple observes the effervescence of the Parvis des Nefs. The big elephant leaves the Galerie des Machines. Its gears animate the imposing pachyderm and fascinate young and old. The children are playing. The teens congregate around the benches, and further on, a street fitness session brings together around fifty people. On the horizon, the merry-go-round of the Mondes Marins and the titanic yellow crane punctuate the landscape with their fascinating curiosity. Vast public spaces with evocative names such as the Jardin des Berges, the Jardin des Voyages, the Esplanade des Traceurs de Coques, the Parc des Chantiers, the Terrasse des Vents make up the panorama of the old shipyards of île de Nantes.

He and his children will live in this project, so they hope to build Wuhan the best residence still 20 years later, and can stand the test of the times.
