Courbes in Colombes, France by Christophe Rousselle

Tuesday, March 17th, 2020

Article source: Christophe Rousselle

The “Courbes” project is part of the urban renewal program of the ZAC Charles de Gaulle in Colombes. The area is easily identified thanks to the eclectic architecture of the urban fabric, blending bungalows and apartment houses dating from the 1980s-90s. The tramway has finally reached this neighborhood, which has enabled the beginning of its genuine transformation owing to its highly prized proximity to the business district of La Défense.

Residential House in Tbilisi, Georgia by artytechs

Sunday, March 15th, 2020

Article source: artytechs

Artytechs’s vision of the urban development of the modern city and Tbilisi in particular.

Tbilisi is a city where primarily concern in terms of urban development is the adaption of architecture with existing environment, considering the landscape and maintaining the scale of the buildings surrounding the project area, which in most cases requires distinctive and unique approach.

Tbilisi is characterized with terraced terrain which accordingly directs our architectural vision to tailor our projects in a corresponding way. This kind of approach makes the landscape diverse, attractive and interesting for all types of buildings, whether it is residential, commercial or of any other kind. Hanging gardens with the automatic irrigation system promote the vertical development of the landscape and aesthetically blends with the exterior of a building.

Instead of massive concrete buildings we bring a new look of the city, contributing to the proper architectural development in Tbilisi.

The Compton in London, England by E8 Architecture

Friday, March 13th, 2020

Article source: E8 Architecture

Commissioned and built by luxury developer, Regal London, in partnership with Simon Bowden Architecture, this ten-storey residential building delivers 49 apartments in one of London’s most prestigious suburbs; St John’s Wood.

The surrounding area is characterized by mid 20th Century mansion blocks, the nicest of which are in the Art Deco style. Our design drew inspiration from the Art Deco form, the curved bays are one of the building’s signature features. Also, the imprint of a leaf motif is a modern interpretation of the Deco pattern with its precise geometry and clear lines.

Čerešne living in Dúbravka, Slovakia by ARCHITEKTI ŠEBO LICHÝ

Friday, March 13th, 2020

Article source: ARCHITEKTI ŠEBO LICHÝ

Čerešne Living is Bratislava´s new city district which will continue developing also in other stages of construction. A unique residential district with the modern-day urban qualities of an advanced, developing European city is appearing in an area which has not been urbanized until now – in Polianky, between Patrónka, Kramáre, Karlova Ves and Dúbravka, in a forgotten territory of inaccessible gardens and industrial infrastructure, but also in an attractive location between a forest, gardens, a shopping centre and a well-known housing estate.

Kajstaden – Tall Timber Building in Västerås, Sweden by C.F. Møller Architects

Sunday, February 23rd, 2020

Article source: C.F. Møller Architects

The Tall Timber Building residence has become a landmark and, during construction, became Sweden’s tallest solid wooden building in the new district of Kajstaden at Lake Mälaren in Västerås. All parts of the building consist of cross-laminated wood, which includes the walls, joists and balconies as well as the lift and stairwell shafts.

Kajstaden – Tall Timber Building is an important landmark for sustainable construction and a reference project that shows that conversion to climate conscious architecture is possible. Through research projects and several active wood projects, C.F. Møller Architects has focused on innovation as well as developing and implementing multi-storey buildings with solid wood frames. In Kajstaden, an active decision was made to prioritise industrial timber techniques for the building material to influence and take responsibility for the impact of the construction industry on the environment and climate change. A crucial advantage of wood, unlike other building materials, is that the production chain for the material produces a limited amount of carbon dioxide emissions. Instead, it is part of a closed cycle, where carbon is retained in the frame of the building.

Research also shows that buildings with a wooden frame make a positive contribution to human health and well-being- thanks to better air quality and acoustic qualities.

Residential M in Rawda, Kuwait by STUDIO MADOUH

Sunday, February 23rd, 2020

Article source: STUDIO MADOUH

A collection of intersecting rocks form the sweeping dune compound of RESIDENTIAL M external skin that defines the internal program of 5 residential units and their exclusive interior oasis leading to a conjuring representation of the desert culture. While respecting the value of the surroundings and maintaining traditional Arabic functions as a whole, each unit sustains its individual contemporary identity. The whole project strip reflects a unified scheme through the design in the use of the natural stone against a white canvas allowing the project to tie together as a single development.

Sodegaura Apartment in Chiba, Japan by tai_tai STUDIO

Wednesday, February 19th, 2020

Article source: tai_tai STUDIO

This is an apartment for singles. The floor area of the dwelling unit is small, about 26m2.

I think this is an apartment for singles with an average floor area in Japan, but it should be called a micro apartment. There are large industrial areas and universities nearby. This was built for the residence of those who commute to them. The building has three floors, and there are eight dwelling units on the second and third floors. The first floor will be a beauty salon and study school.

O6A LOT Housing in Paris, France by sam architecture

Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Article source: sam architecture

Context

The urban regeneration zone of Clichy- Batignolles covers over 133 acres of land (54 hectares).

Located in the 17th Parisian precinct, it is one of the most ambitious urban projects currently led by the city.

The site bears the historical signs of transportation and logistics activities, facilitated by the train lines leading to Saint Lazare train station and the close beltway. Therefore, the stakes of the project can be summarized by the single idea of designing a dense built environment for this neighborhood. Hence creating the possibility to include this isolated railway site into a very much needed urban continuity.

Dr Lund Residential Building in Lagoa Santa, Brazil by Tetro Arquitetura + Humberto Hermeto Arquitetura

Monday, February 17th, 2020

Article source: Tetro Arquitetura + Humberto Hermeto Arquitetura

The Dr Lund Residential Building is located in Lagoa Santa, Minas Gerais, 40 km from Belo Horizonte. It is located on the corner between an avenue that is passage on the route between Belo Horizonte and the Serra do Cipó and a street that has only local traffic and is where you have your main access.

The building, constructed in concrete and masonry, was conceived as a horizontal object implanted longitudinally to the ground. It has seven floors and 95 meters in length. This strategy in the implantation and the horizontality of its form make its presence striking in the landscape.
