Logements et centre bus RATP rue Père Corentin – Paris XIV in France by ECDM Architectes

Monday, August 6th, 2018

Article source: ECDM Architectes

The project that RATP has entrusted to us consists of the realization of 2 housing buildings imbricated with a bus center.

In a specific and referenced work based on emblematic Parisian operations such as the building of the Atlas passage designed by Eugène Beaudoin and Marcel Lods or the one by Henri Sauvage located rue Vavin, the first building of our operation, implanted rue du Père Corentin, presents a stepped facade combined with terraces to solve the wide gap existing between the buildings that surround it : a R+2 Mansart-type pavilion and a R+12 building resulting from the modernity implanted freely in disregard of any alignment. This work of graduation also emanates from a desire to open this very narrow street to the sun, to the sky, and to desaturate the noise of the street by avoiding the bottleneck of 2 facades strictly in vis-a-vis. Thus, every dwelling offers a possibility to plant on the entirety of the linear of its facade and contributes to the realization of a future suspended oblique garden in the perspective of the street.

Social housing in Paris 18°, France by Gaëtan Le Penhuel & Associates Architects

Friday, August 3rd, 2018

Article source: Gaëtan Le Penhuel & Associates Architects

This urban and architectural operation, must demonstrate the added value of density in the city. It must also be an opportunity to “re‐enchant” the site of the ‘Porte de Clignancourt’. This Paris gate, now noisy and busy, is in full restructuring with the arrival of the tramway. We are betting to imagine for the future, the emergence of a renewed identity for a neighborhood located in the heart of the green belt.

San José de la Sierra Building in CHILE by DRAA

Sunday, July 29th, 2018

Article source: DRAA

San Jose de la Sierra is a development of eight high-end apartments within a three story exposed concrete building.

In 2016 were challenged to provide a housing alternative that had to convey both the opening and freedom of a house with the security of a flat. The site was in a changing neighborhood of large properties in the foothills of the Andes, a common situation of an expanding city that needs to provide more density within the city boundaries. We delivered a monolithic concrete volume aiming for the idea of a single large property, a manor under which all dwellers would find themselves comfortable with their share without being singled out. The office reinforced the design concept with a semi-regular array of openings in three orientations that hide the diverse room destinations each one has, i.e.bedroom, kitchen or bathroom portray the same window size and finishing with different privacy solutions. This array often found in classical examples of architecture is altered with three adjacent expressive staircases that organise and bring hierarchy to the different access halls. The volume brakes and towers as it climbs and winds through the rather inclined Andean terrain.

100 Norfolk in New York by ODA

Wednesday, July 18th, 2018

Article source: ODA

Beyond an acute awareness of elements such as context and the needs of its community, ODA New York’s brand DNA is earmarked, in particular, by a special dexterity with—or even mastery of—the city’s byzantine zoning code; a kind of sixth sense for navigating the various restrictions and regulations in a way that enables ODA to consistently challenge architectural convention. That zoning facility is on full display in the brand’s latest multifamily masterstroke. Indeed, located on NYC’s lower east side, 100 Norfolk quite literally turns convention on its head.

58 Public Housing Torresolo in Vizcaya, Spain by IDOM

Tuesday, July 17th, 2018

Article source: IDOM

The 58 subsidized dwellings developed by Sukia are located on the edge of a hillside in the municipality of Leioa, therefore having great visibility in the surroundings. The Masterplan defined a base that would occupy the garages level. This plinth would then support, as if it were a podium, four blocks which, also dictated by the council, would have the same materials as the façade. Two of these blocks make up the development we are dealing with.
