A residential building with 89 flats over 17 levels (ground floor + 16 storeys). The project includes social housing for rent and for sale, as well as standard housing for sale, over the 17 levels of the building.

Orange Architects has won the tender for Plot 42A, located in the heart of the harbour on IJburg in Amsterdam. With this winning scheme, called ‘Jonas’, the city has chosen a highly innovative residential building with a spectacular interior that has achieved the highest possible sustainability label (Breeam Outstanding). The design for the 29,000-m2 mixed-use programme was commissioned by Amvest and developed in collaboration with Site urban development, ABT, Felixx landscape architects and Floor Ziegler.

Situated at the corner of 4th Avenue and 1st Street in the coveted Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, 251 1st by ODA New York is the firm’s latest manifestation of its steadfast commitment to improving quality of life in urban areas. In this case—taking a page from its well-documented playbook—ODA’s inflected the building’s upper massing with a cascade of setbacks and terraces, yielding substantial outdoor space, as well as multiple exposures for units.
Nieuw Bergen is set to become a unique part of the city centre of Eindhoven and combines the values of renovated and transformed buildings with new constructions. The urban strategy applied here is based on the knowledge and innovation necessary for establishing a sustainable, pleasant and dynamic living environment for future residents. The design approach echoes Eindhoven’s status as a city of technology, design and knowledge. Nieuw Bergen will get a hyper-modern feel and continues the informal character of the Bergen neighbourhood.
Based on the urban situation, people’s lifestyle and revitalizing the concept of reconciling human and nature, the architect tried to create a pattern within which all the expectations fit. “The building is called The Neighbor in order to be neighboring to the shading tree in the yard. We want it to be arisen from the nature and to describe architecture as a living paradigm.” -Said the architect. One of the remarkable specifications of the project is using recycled materials in order to lower the budget. The white façade is a product of combining cement and recycled stone. “We tried to bring the architecture into the homes of ones who had forgotten the “Quality” because of its high cost.” -Said the architect. Characteristics that describe the essence of design: Communication: The interior communal spaces provide the opportunity for the residents to easily communicate. The yard has short walls so the neighbors can let themselves inside, rest under the shade of the tree and have a friendly chat. Diversity: Order is nature’s quiddity. Architect looks for creation of inner order based on diversity as well as harmony. Reducing repetitive elements and using a modular design system resulted in a variety of different apartments, both in the structure of the plan and the exterior façade. Originality: Everything seems original here. All the spaces are designed based on a function. Being a home: The units get enough amount of daylight. Terraces are like private little gardens that have a great view to the city.
As the centrepiece of Copenhagen’s redeveloped Nordhavn (North Harbour), Danish architects COBE and clients Klaus Kastbjerg and NRE Denmark unveil the completed transformation of The Silo. The former industrial silo was originally used as a storage container for grain. Fifty years later, the 17-storey silo has been converted for new use as a residential apartment building with 38 unique units, ranging from 106 m2 to 401 m2 in size, and with public functions such as event and dining facilities on the upper and lower levels.

Rinconada Margaritas is a vertical housing complex, set up with three buildings in a 10,126 sqm. site. A fundamental part of the project lies on the site conditions, preserving a ravine with an important density of trees and plants. The strategic emplacement of the buildings, leaves 80% of the site´s area for green areas and open spaces, this represents a privilege due its urban condition.
The site is located at the Beitou Qiyan ecology redevelopment district. Therefore, to integrate with the natural scenes of sky and mountains has become a major focus for the project.
Extension after compression
In response to the planning concept of the area, it is required to provide a large amount of open space including the entrance square, street square, dotted square and linear open space for public use. The interior space on the ground floor is reduced, but through the extended floor/ ceiling inside out and by adopting the natural building materials, we add the texture of integrating with the environment and the visual extension. A large number of windows and grills create the openness and layers of the space, which makes even broader visual effect on the ground floor.
The first Chinese Forest City by Stefano Boeri Architetti is turning into reality. A city where offices, houses, hotels, hospitals and schools are entirely covered by plants and trees.
Once completed, the new city will host 30,000 people, absorb almost 10,000 tons of CO2 and 57 tons of pollutants per year and produce approximately 900 tons of oxygen.
