CRÈCHE DES ORTEAUX in Paris, France by Avenier Cornejo Architectes

Thursday, July 2nd, 2015

Article source: Avenier Cornejo Architectes

The architectural firm, Avenier Cornejo, has just completed a crèche for 66 children in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. The crèche is located in the new Fréquel Fontarabie district, where the public pathway meets the square. It is a unique building which adds to the identity of the neighbourhood. Being one of the first places that children discover outside their own family unit, a crèche needs to provide a reassuring atmosphere where children can grow and prosper. The crèche is there both to protect children and help them discover the world around them.

SOCIAL HOUSING AND KINDERGARTEN IN PARIS, France by GAETAN LE PENHUEL ARCHITECTES

Sunday, May 24th, 2015

Article source: GAETAN LE PENHUEL ARCHITECTES

Urban resources

Paris’s 11th arrondissement combines the city’s highest population density with one of its lowest green space totals. Set back from Boulevard Richard Lenoir, this large plot has been pre-emptively acquired by the City of Paris with a view to creating, along Impasse Truillot, a new public garden edged with social housing units and a crèche for 60 infants. The ultimate aim is a major green strip running from the forecourt of the church of Saint Ambroise to Boulevard Richard Lenoir. Whatever comes of this handsome urban project, currently awaiting the acquisition and demolition of business premises, the building fit with the size of the planned park.

The “Familienzentrum im Steinpark” kindergarten in Freising, Germany by neuburger, bohnert und müller Architekten

Saturday, May 16th, 2015

Article source: neuburger, bohnert und müller Architekten

Design concept

The project was gained through a competition won in 2010. The task was to design a kindergarten for eight groups of children with a multipurpose hall, a dining hall and a staff room.

The polygonal shape of the area available for construction and the idea behind the design of putting the various rooms in separate buildings, creating a kind of “children’s village”, led to the star-shaped design of the facility, and to the placement of the different age-groups into individual and structurally separated buildings. Each unit – crèche, kindergarten, day-care centre, utility and staff – is given its own building. They are connected with each other by means of a central all-purpose hall, which we called the “Piazza”, and which is the heart of the child-care facility. What results is a subdivided pavilion in the midst of a treed park. Stations for play and educational purposes are distributed around the remaining garden.

LHM kindergarten in Tokyo, Japan by Moriyuki Ochiai Architects Inc.

Friday, April 17th, 2015

Article source: Moriyuki Ochiai Architects Inc.

We designed a playful and exciting environment suitable for implementing this kindergarten’s educational policy, which focuses on bringing up children that can think, learn and act independently. In doing so, we created a space in which seasonal changes can be experienced to the fullest by taking advantage of the glass windows facing a garden outside of the building to usher the great outdoors into the kindergarten.

Shichigahama Tohyama Nursery in Miyagi prefecture, JAPAN by Ippei Takahashi + TAKAHASHI IPPEI OFFICE

Friday, April 10th, 2015

Article source: Ippei Takahashi + TAKAHASHI IPPEI OFFICE

This is a reconstruction project for a public nursery affected by the 2011 earthquake in Japan. I hoped the new building to be in harmony with its surrounding environment and not to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in this town scape. Also, the town people wanted it to be a monument for reconstruction, evoking both unity and eternity.
