Designed as a permanent show gallery & tourist information center for China’s largest developer Vanke, MOD’s dramatic design for the TRIPLE V GALLERY has become an icon along the Dong Jiang Bay coastline in Tianjin China. The client’s program called for 3 main spaces: a tourist information center, a show gallery & a lounge for sales discussion. Requiring their own entrances, the tourist center and the show gallery had to be orientated towards separate existing pedestrian pathways and also operated independently.

Kebony Brings Interactive Landscaping to Copenhagen, Denmark

Thursday, November 12th, 2015

Article source: Kebony

The historic ramparts at Vestvolden, Copenhagen, have been given another lease of life as the defining feature within the large municipal park. Designed by VEGA architects to bring the incredible story of the region’s history to life, “Play on the ramparts” is situated on the old fortifications, introducing play and movement to this historical landscape. Visitors to the expansive and undulating park are greeted by three thematic education stations installed in and amongst the physical remnants of a bygone era. The stations, in one small corner of the park, are designed to create a bridge between past and present, using traditional materials with a modern, sustainable twist, such as Kebony’s sustainable alternative to tropical wood.

Ranch Operations in Hill Country, Texas by Miró Rivera Architects

Tuesday, October 27th, 2015

Article source: Miró Rivera Architects

The Ranch Operations buildings presented an opportunity to explore the juxtaposition of simple utilitarian structures against the Hill Country landscape. Designed with a common 16’ module, the structural layout for the three buildings is identical, leaving manipulation of the skin system as the primary vehicle for meeting the programmatic needs for the project. These needs include office space and a shop, maintenance vehicle storage as well as general storage.

Notariaat 2.0 – Continuous Landscape in Horebeke, Belgium by Atelier Vens Vanbelle

Thursday, October 15th, 2015

Article source: Atelier Vens Vanbelle

The original notary, which interacts with its surroundings in a very specific way, was put into use only five years ago. Thus it was a mental struggle to respond to the request for an extension. Well conceived design does not tolerate continuation or copy, so a radically different approach was needed. On a six-month period an abstract mirror box on a black base rose along the street. A transparent passageway between these two volumes replaces the former entrance of the building.
