The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel in Italy by Studio Marco Piva

Sunday, December 16th, 2018

Article source: Studio Marco Piva

Bringing modernity to the five-star hotel culture: new architecture comes to life in Rome combining history and creativity with auteur design. This was the goal of Studio Marco Piva when designing The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel, which has recently opened to the public following 11 months of works.

The new hotel is part of Unica Collection, which chose to collaborate with the “The Autograph Collection” brand – the Marriott group’s exclusive portfolio of upscale hotels – to put this facility on international circuits, after bringing the building back to its original function. In fact, initially it was the hotel Bologna in via Santa Chiara, before becoming seat of the Senate of the Republic offices.

Gloriette in Ritten, Italy by NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Article source: NOA* – NETWORK OF ARCHITECTURE

Gloriette Guesthouse: A travel through time

Gloriette Guesthouse by noa * builds on the tradition of summer holidays at Ritten and adds another link to the chain. On the Bozner’s favourite mountain, a house was created, in which city and country merge together.

The former small hotel business Bergfink, which was an anchor point in the village structure and nestled amidst the rural-urban structure with all its bourgeois domiciles, built by wealthy Bolzano merchants around the turn of the century, was demolished and a new jewel was created in its place. As the name suggests, it is a gem in the landscape, inspired by the architectural typology in timelessly, elegant Art Nouveau. With the feeling of an era in which, – not at all pompous – the architecture of the city in a simplified form and without giving up completely on luxury and comfort on the Ritten transposed – generous, classic, simple, but not sober.

Bar Roc in Cape Town, South Africa by OKHA

Monday, November 26th, 2018

Article source: OKHA

When one of the most exclusive hotels in Southern Africa gave OKHA an open brief to redesign its Cellar bar, lead designer Adam Court combined Japanese reductionist minimalism and post-war Italian Baroque, two seemingly opposing visual styles to execute a complete transformation using what he refers to as “Naked Maximalism”.

Ellerman House is a family run hotel comprising several freestanding villas, a wellness spa, extensive art gallery, wine gallery and terraced gardens which surround the central house, an Edwardian Villa dating back to 1906. Each of these spaces has been given a unique design treatment which is why, when it came to the new bar it was important for the hotel to partner with a design studio they had not previously worked with; bringing fresh eyes to continue and explore the dialogue between contemporary and classical.

Krøyers Plads in Denmark by Studio David Thulstrup

Tuesday, November 20th, 2018

Article source: Studio David Thulstrup

A Danish couple based in South America engaged us to design and equip their newly built Copenhagen apartment. Furniture, fittings, colours and materials were carefully selected for the clients.

With the client’s desire to create a modern apartment, whilst avoiding the usual collection of Scandinavian classics, we brought life and personality to the cold white bare rooms and gave their home a sense of meaning and personality. Several bespoke pieces were created for this home – library wall shelving, walk-in closets and benches, office cabinet walls, kitchen cabinet, entrance wall storage and a lounge table with thick terrazzo plates and brass details.

Living Screen House in Australia by CplusC Architectural Workshop

Monday, November 19th, 2018

Article source: CplusC Architectural Workshop

A single-family residence on a narrow site, this stunning home built for entertaining, features a unique lap-pool abutting a double height social space which spills out to the rear BBQ area. Living green wall screens to the front and side façades provide privacy and a sense of retreat.

The clients’ brief was for a home which could be both a springboard for entertaining and a private family retreat. The site constraints and the practice’s commitment to passive solar design and natural daylighting drove much of the resulting form.

Article source: C.F. Møller

The Technical Faculty is part of the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, and constitutes a shared research and education environment for four different institutes. The building is designed as one big envelope consisting of 5 buildings connected by bridges at multiple levels crossing the heart of the complex, a “piece of furniture” containing common functions, meeting-rooms and café/lounge areas. The many connections allow for more fluid boundaries, and more community and knowledge sharing.
