UNStudio and EE&K a Perkins Eastman company, and Jacobs Engineering have submitted a proposal for a scope of work to develop a Master Plan of Los Angeles Union Station.
Ben van Berkel of UNStudio, along with Jonathan Cohn of EE&K, presented their ‘Vision Board’ – a conceptual rendering in the year 2050, showing Los Angeles Union Station as a multi-modal transit hub with a mix of uses, new development and outdoor spaces. The intent of the Vision Board was to explore visionary possibilities for Union Station and surrounding areas. The vision submitted does not portray the final design issues that will be examined in the Master Plan, however it does show a hint of the possibilities for the city and the regional transit hub of the future.
KABC developed a holistic 21st century community in Cairo, in close proximity to one of the most ancient wonders of the world, the Pyramids of Giza. It is a community inspired by the land of Egypt, where quality of life is maximized within a serene natural environment. This project combines the convenience of cultivated living, sophisticated boutique retail, innovative class A office spaces, and enjoyable entertainment with a spectacular connective pedestrian network of undulating foot trails, lively squares, and peaceful waterscapes. A sequence of communities, in the form of small oases offer visual difference and active engagement. The differently styled communities offer contrasting experiences—both in program and in appearance. This means that each resident can select a different atmosphere, conducive to his or her lifestyle. The result is an economically viable development that creates a sense of comfort, peace, and enjoyment for the global citizen of tomorrow.

Its function has not changed a bit in the last 40 years, it is surrounded by and isolated through highways, it is used as a parking lot and also as a meeting point for dubious people. The people have almost forgotten about it somehow after being in a bad state for years. But now the rhythm as well as the character of the surrounding highway will be interrupted by 55 piled-up sea containers

The transformation of the World Heritage-listed port is one of a series of projects to be completed in time for the city’s inauguration as European Capital of Culture in 2013.
