Luminous Moon-Gate (Taichung City Cultural Center) in Taichung, Taiwan by Form4 Architecture

Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

Article source: Form4 Architecture

Luminous Moon-Gate was designed in 2013 for the Taichung City Cultural Center International Competition. The design intent behind the proposed project hints at multiple interpretative roles for Taichung: a portal into heightened consciousness, a lantern of knowledge, a catalyst for metropolitan living, a cultural lung for the body of the city, a gate toward a responsible future, a center regenerative of community life, a landmark for orientation.

G U G G E N H E I M H E L S I N K I in Finland by Rafi Segal Architecture

Wednesday, December 17th, 2014

Article source: Rafi Segal Architecture

The Urbanism of Helsinki, as much as the museum’s program, plays a defining role in shaping the new Guggenheim located in Eteläsatama.  Capturing the activity of the city’s south harbor, the project creates a series of terraces and courtyards, cut-out of the building’s mass, which extend the urban public space of the waterfront onto the higher ground of TahititorninVuori Park. The ascending movement of these terraces is echoed in the interior organization of the museum which is conceived as an architectural promenade of exhibition spaces and urban vistas. Tourists and residents, art and community meet through the new museum building and within it. The icon of cultural activity seen from a far becomes at close an urban landscape of courtyards and passages which enhances the experience of the city and its fellowship with the elements of nature.

Madrid Digital Arts Museum by Selim Senin

Wednesday, December 17th, 2014

Article source: Selim Senin

The plot selected for the design of the digital arts museum is in such a spot where the historic buildings of Madrid are dense, access is provided with narrow roads, squares which form urban spaces are rare. To the north of the site the square in front of Valle Inclantheater takes place and to the northwest Lavapies Square takes place. These squares are the of rare spaces that can be found among the densely built attached blocks.
