Museum of Fine Arts Houston Campus Expansion in Houston, Texas by Steven Holl Architects

Wednesday, December 9th, 2020

Article source: Steven Holl Architects

The new Nancy and Rich Kinder Museum Building is characterized by porosity, opening the ground floor at all elevations. Seven gardens slice the perimeter, marking points of entry and punctuating the elevations. The largest garden court, at the corner of Bissonnet and Main Street, marks a central entry point on the new Museum of Fine Arts, Houston campus. When standing in the new entrance lobby of the Kinder Building, one can see gardens and lush Houston vegetation in four directions and feel the inviting energy of a new sense of openness to the community.

Yingliang Stone Natural History Museum in Fujian, China by Atelier Alter Architects

Saturday, October 10th, 2020

Article source: Atelier Alter Architects

Over the years of stone mining, the manufacture has discovered numerous fossils. The manufacture decides to dedicate the headquarter building to a museum to tell the history of the fossils and the natural science of researching the fossil. There are two major challenges during the renovation process. The first one is the conflict between private headquarter and public museum. The second one is the direct sunlight gained at the atrium space. The addition of museum space will limit the deficient light to the office space even more.

Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota by Henning Larsen Architects A/S

Thursday, August 27th, 2020

Article source: Henning Larsen Architects A/S

Henning Larsen Presents Design for Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Our design is inspired by the rich landscapes of the North Dakotan Badlands, united by Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy, and rooted in the community of Medora.

In a single, dark February day in 1884, Theodore Roosevelt’s mother and wife passed within hours of each other – an event he commemorated in his diary: “The light has gone out of my life.” Deep in grief, he journeyed from New York City to Medora, North Dakota, where his time in the Badlands would come to transform and define him as the man, conservationist, and American civic icon we remember today.
