Spira in Jönköping, Sweden by Wingårdhs

Sunday, October 9th, 2016

Article source: Wingårdhs

Spira is twisted as a spiral to catch the attention of the eye as well as the body; transparent, to turn every side into a front; compact, to be efficient and sparse; meandering, to create expectation.

The performing arts centre Spira in the city of Jönköping is a regional scene for music and theater in the southern part of Sweden. It is a culturally vivid part of the country, but the performing arts have not had a permanent stage so far. Our proposal is a result of a winning competition from 2005 and the house was inaugurated on 11.11.11.

The project site is located inside the green area called Rhike Park, in Tbilisi, Georgia. The building consists of two different soft shaped elements that are connected as a unique body at the retaining wall. Every elements  has his own function: The Musical Theatre and the Exhibition Hall. The north part of the building contains the Musical Theatre Hall (566 seats), the foyer and several facilities, together with technical spaces for theatre machinery and various storages. The Exhibition Hall opens his great entrance with a ramp that brings visitors from the street level. The Music Theatre Hall, on the contrary, soars from the ground and allows the users staying in the foyer and in the cafeteria to have a view to the river and the skyline of the city. It is a periscope to the city and looks towards the river framing the historic core of the Old Tbilisi.

Thursday, May 5th, 2016

Article source: CUAC ARQUITECURA

Gabba Gabba Hey !! With this “war cry” one of the most famous bands of rock n ‘roll history, The Ramones, would start almost all their concerts This slogan, rescued from the cult movie Freaks 1928, was fixed to a huge banner to reclaim the pride of the marginal. The whole band starred the musical Rock and Roll High School (1979), centered in the crazy disintegration of an american high school where the students would take the total control of  institution turning the Ramones in their new improvised teachers.

‘Henri Dutilleux’ Conservatoire of Music, Dance and Dramatic Arts in Lukas, France by Dominique coulon & associés

Wednesday, January 27th, 2016

Article source: Dominique  coulon  & associés

The building is located in the upper part of the town. It backs onto the woods, forming the final outlying limit of the built-up area. Echoing the open landscape, it faces to Belfort Lion on the hilltop opposite. In this strong context, the building offers its solidity, an almost opaque mass of grey concrete.
