The musical society of zwettl was founded in the year 1887. its hitherto existing rehearsal space in the attic storey of the municipal office did neither answer to the musical society’s supra-regional importance, nor to acoustic requirements. transferring the music society frees space in the existing building for the increasing number of administration tasks.
Located on a plot of land between two high-rise buildings, the conservatory stands at the interface of architectural scripts linked to the city’s building heritage. On the edge of the 17th arrondissement to the south Haussmann-style buildings look across at social housing of a more recent period. So the conservatory is located at a strategic point due to its theme, i.e. the 17th arrondissement’s history is closely linked with French music, and building this new edifice has to be worthy of this past.
The rebirth of the Hollywood Bowl marked the end of a six-year process in which Hodgetts + Fung re-invented the acoustics, enhanced the functionality, and nearly doubled the size of that hundred-year old icon while echoing the memory and visual identity of the original.
Acoustic clarity and precision were governing principals for the design of this recital space and outdoor stage for the Masters Program in music at the California Institute of the Arts. Sited at the gateway to the 1970’s era campus, the project serves a multitude of purposes, for which acoustics, structural design, materials, and symbolic presence were integrated to produce a building which was conceived as a highly tuned instrument for musical performance.
The building of Music and Art school comprises two schools working separately until now. The classrooms are placed on perimeter, while practicing halls and libraries in the middle of the building. Light courtyards are the result of the compact plan, providing a lot of daylight and
reflected light in the middle of the school, and at the same time being the space for both schools to interact. Green colour in interior marks the Music school, while the blue is for the Art school.
An all-new landmark in Music City’s iconic downtown will open its doors May 19. Located within the historic center of Mexico City, on the rooftop of one of the most important themed stores of the music scene, the Fender Custom Shop Mexico City is Latin America’s first Fender store and follows a different concept from those in other countries. The basic concept for the development of the project was an architecture conceived as temporary, a sort of hybrid space that could function equally as a store, an art gallery, a meeting space or a lounge; together with music, a short-lived happening and the idea of the guitar as an anthropometric unit of measure.
The idea of a school of music and arts in Bucharest came from the need to gather all the teachers and gifted children from the district and from other areas in a single dedicated place in order to study and communicate. Until now, children have studied in improvised places, in old schools that haven’t been built in accordance with the technical needs of these disciplines. The school is not a classical art one, but an institution with extra-curricular activities like music, theatre, dance, drawing, painting, graphics, sculpture, new media and performance of any kind.

Berklee College of Music, the world’s premier learning lab for contemporary music, and Walters-Storyk Design Group, renowned for their work on studios for Jimi Hendrix, Alicia Keys, and Bruce Springsteen, today announced the completion of a cutting edge recording/teaching complex at Berklee’s Valencia campus. Berklee’s new state-of-the-art campus is located at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia, Spain. The studio facility is the final element of Berklee’s first international campus, which recently launched its master’s programs.
