Antwerp Tower in Belgium by Wiel Arets Architects

Friday, August 2nd, 2019

Article source: Wiel Arets Architects

The Antwerp Tower is a skyscraper in the center of Antwerp, which itself is currently being renovated from an office tower to a building with 241 luxury apartments, based off a design by WAA. The tower is part of a larger renovation of the area directly around its base–the Keyserlei, which is the main pedestrian avenue that leads from Antwerp’s central train station–into the center of the city. The design of the Antwerp Tower entails extending the width of the marquise-diamond-like floorpan, increasing its height to 100 m, and demolishing and repurposing the space directly between the opera house and the tower–to create a four story plinth at the tower’s base, for retail and office, with a roof terrace restaurant atop for overlooking the city below.

KPN building in Rotterdam, The Netherlands by V8 Architects

Tuesday, July 30th, 2019

Article source: V8 Architects

The KPN building at the beginning of Wilhelminapier in Rotterdam was designed by Renzo Piano. It was the talk of the town upon completion in 1999, but by 2016 it had ceased to meet the user’s needs. With Piano’s consent, an extensive redevelopment by V8 was planned to breathe new life into the building. At ground level there is a huge entrance with public functions and business facilities; the tower has been converted from a traditional office building into a flexible and up-to-the-minute workplace. In its new incarnation the building has reconnected with the neighborhood and the city and is set to act as a catalyst of public life on the pier.

ReBar in Tokyo, Japan by Organic Design Architecture Studio

Sunday, July 28th, 2019

Article source: Design Architecture Studio

This renovation transformed part of a 33-year-old building in Shibaura, Tokyo, that once provided warehousing and R&D space for a leading electronics company. Design of the 150 m2 area was also undertaken to attract a future corporate tenant who will use all 1,380 m2 of the floor space.

A primary consideration was that any walls erected should not impede airflow of the central air conditioning, which suggested that we should approach the project by redefining the role of office walls.

The name Warehouse Market Tokyo ReBar derives from the rebar used.

Friday, July 26th, 2019

Article source: EligoStudio

In the North of Florida, the Cultiva company worldwide leader in the fresh-cut market has built the first protected baby leaf production on America East Coast. EligoStudio has been commissioned to design the site headquarter: a 3 stories building entirely crafted by shipping containers. They’ve been assembled and disassembled in Italy to face the overseas shipping. Spaces and finishing keep the soul of the singular unit: a rough industrial container. Boxes slide one over the others to create rooms and terraces, completely permeable thanks to the wide windows. The furniture was provided by the Italian company Fantin, specialized in the production of furniture and solutions in metal.
