Urania in Zagreb, Hrvatska by 3LHD

Tuesday, May 19th, 2020

Article source: 3LHD

Urania Cinema/Theatre is one of numerous old cinema buildings built in the city of Zagreb in the early 20th century. Those cinemas were spread within the urban blocks across Zagreb’s Downtown. With the opening of new and modern multiplex theatres 20 years ago, the old Zagreb cinemas have gradually started to die out, and the buildings, neglected and empty, started to deteriorate.

NATURA Building in Tumbaco, Ecuador by Diez+Muller Arquitectos

Tuesday, May 12th, 2020

Article source: Diez+Muller Arquitectos

The Tumbaco Valley

Natura is located in the valley of Tumbaco, 24 km from the city of Quito. Since this valley is at a lower altitude than the city, it has a remarkable climate and natural conditions. For this and other reasons, it has become a highly developed residential zone, achieving in recent years a significant population growth.

The vast majority of people who inhabit the valley work in the city, which has meant that this area is being transformed into a small dormitory town. This resulting in: long journeys, vehicular congestion, pollution and an extended development, lacking services and equipment.

Building D(emountable) in Delft, The Netherlands by cepezed

Tuesday, May 12th, 2020

Article source: cepezed

Building D(emountable) is a modern, sustainable and fully demountable structure on the site of a historic, monumental building complex in the center of Dutch city Delft. This site is owned by cepezed, an agency with expertise in the development, the design and the realization of buildings.

Creative cluster

cepezed acquired the complex with former laboratories from Delft University of Technology in 2012. It transformed the monumental buildings into a creative cluster with housing for various companies in the creative sector, including the office itself. However, the only non-monumental building on the site was in poor condition. It has  now made way for the new construction of Building D(emountable). Again, this is a full-blown own development of cepezed and again it is intended for companies in the knowledge-intensive creative industry. It houses a the app and website developer 9to5 software and a game developer Triumph Studios.

This tower housing the Zain headquarters in the Sudanese capital rises above the city, cutting a slender symbolic figure over the skyline. Servifinques in Tarragona, Spain by GUILLEM CARRERA arquitecte

Wednesday, May 6th, 2020

Article source: GUILLEM CARRERA arquitecte

Minerva Galleries make up the commercial ground floor of a multi-family building built in the 70s in the expansion district of Tarragona. Like most commercial galleries implanted between mid and late last century, they are covered and opened only to pedestrians. Being, therefore, precursor elements at the birth of the shopping centers, whose arrival has meant that most commercial galleries have closed the doors or have been reconfigured. This is the case of the Minerva Galleries, which has seen how retail trade has been disappearing and its premises have been transformed into offices or professional consultations, like this project.
