From the beginning of the project we understood the intrinsic qualities associated with this piece of urban fabric. We here deal with a rectangular space with measures that do not exceed 7.50 m x 12.00 m located practically in the heart of the square. This is a dwelling unit of the type of the row houses in the city of Buenos Aires. At the beginning of the last century it was common to build small houses with the conceptual characteristics of the “sausage house” multiplied for the depth of an urban lot. The project then rose as a challenge to customer demands whose programmatic needs far exceeded the possibilities offered by the nature of the terrain. We also had to be aware of the constraints brought by the responsibility of reforming a historic site that was protected by the law of the city of Buenos Aires.
Located in Yarralumla, Canberra, the clients purchased the adjoining property to their existing contemporary residence to accommodate a tennis court, indoor swimming pool and guest accommodation. A new simple, single level off-form concrete structure houses the heated pool, shower facilities, a kitchenette and a sitting area with a fireplace. Sliding glass doors open to the east and west from the indoor pool and the sitting room, with timber screens providing sun control to the west.
The project is located in the “Jardín D`Obradors Sur”, pretending to be a new attraction for the people during the summer months. The materials are minimum: concrete, steel and glass. Raises twelve independent buildings. One for each of the different uses needed for the pools: access, showers, toilets, nursing, bar, and storage facilities. Monolithic concrete buildings bathed in natural light inside are forming a small square providing access to the pools. Three pools of different sizes and depths are distributed in the remaining areas of the ground. Around of them, recreational beach areas.
When designing the new family bath in Gröbming the entire environment in terms of topography, sun history, perspectives, and existing buildings were analyzed.
The existing pool area is located on a hillside and has great visual links to the surrounding mountain peaks. To optimally exploit this situation and capture the sun’s rays, the sloping terrain will be completed by the placement of the building. The building blends seamlessly with the existing buildings and was provided with apitched roof. The arrangement of the swimming pool was also planned in relation to topography. Theslope shifted broad slide and the 3-meter-high diving platform developed from the ground.
This project in Sarasota, Florida centered on creating an elegant backyard living space in which the Owners could live and entertain. Both design professionals, they requested a new pool house, pool and landscape layout that embraced modern design but had a sensitivity to the adjacent 1926 historic home that would share the site.
