Article source: APOLLO Architects & Associates

The site is located in a residential area on a plateau in Yokohama-city. The characteristic façade is designed with exposed concrete and wooden lattices of Serangan batu wood, taking the horizon into consideration. It is a classic of modern design that is conscious of harmony with the surrounding greens and peaceful townscape. This two-family house successfully creates a dignity and formality that are unique to the residence.

Wednesday, June 18th, 2014

Article source: Nicolas Laisné Associés

This house is the product of the renovation of a boating warehouse by a large pond near Orleans.

Facing the forest, wooden blades hide the house from a public footpath. The second facade literally hangs over the water, with each of its rooms opening onto a landscape where high timber trees mix with reflections in the water.

1 Milman Road Extension by Syte Architects

Thursday, June 12th, 2014

Article source: Syte Architects

The proposal relates to the construction of a new contemporary two-storey brick extension to an historic Edwardian house. The design of the proposed extension has been defined by the site conditions and constraints.

The most unique characteristic of 1 Milman Road is the corner bay window. Most houses at the end of terrace terminate in a blank brick side elevation, most notably the building at the rear of the garden, along Harvist Road. On this property however, the terrace turns the corner and continues onto the Harvist Road elevation by using a distinct corner bay window. The new extension seeks to repeat the device of the corner window. The modern interpretation is intended to link the elevations as if they were continuous, akin to the corner bay window, but on a subdued scale.

The building is located on a south-hillside above esslingen am neckar within a grown residential area. the extremely slim and sloping land has since been used as a driveway road and was considered unbuildable. the just 4,70m wide and 14m long  building pushes out of the long, slim body between the neighboring houses into the hillside.

Brick Wall House in Woerden, Netherlands by 123DV

Saturday, May 17th, 2014

Article source: 123DV

The location of this residence is highly exceptional: flanked by small-scale detached semi-classical houses with gabled roofs on one side, a large apartment block planned on the other. The client wanted his dwelling to provide maximum privacy. The house represents the transition between these two worlds: the façade facing the apartment block is closed with the exception of a protruding stairwell that offers an intriguing view along the façade; the other side of the building consists of an informal configuration of rectangular volumes fitted with a large number of windows.
