Wednesday, March 4th, 2020

Article source: MESSNER ARCHITECTS

Casa Luis is a residential house for a young family of six. Their desire for the best view and light, for privateness and generous open spaces was as decisive for the design as it was the morphological composition of the terrain, exposure to sunlight and building guidelines.

Blackrock House in Dundalk, Ireland by Scullion Architects

Monday, March 2nd, 2020

Article source: Scullion Architects

The house is situated a few miles outside the predominantly red-brick town of Dundalk in the sea-side village of Blackrock.  The clients, a retired couple, sought a modestly-sized, low-energy, warm and welcoming home that enjoyed sunlight all day long.

The selected site was the last in a row of plots which were being sold-off in a piecemeal fashion on former agricultural land. As such, at the time of design there was no immediate built context, only the surrounding meadow, zoned to remain undeveloped, and an incomplete access road.  Topographically the site sloped down to the south from back to front, overlooked the meadow to the west, and would adjoin future neighbours to the east.

Casa MJ in Lleida, Spain by Alventosa Morell Arquitectes

Thursday, February 27th, 2020

Article source: Alventosa Morell Arquitectes

The order of the project is based on the construction of a single family house in the residential area of La Cerdera, Lleida. In this residential area predominates big surface plots (minimum 2000m2) with a composition of Ground Floor+1. Despite the big dimensions of the constructions, the design of the existing houses doesn’t allow them to get profit of the total surface of the garden.

The aim of our proposal is to design at the ground floor level a house which permit us to extend over the plot and, at the same time, domesticate the exterior space by a sequence of roofs that are distributed from side to side of the garden.

Casa DA in Quito, Ecuador by Bernardo Bustamante Arquitectos

Friday, February 21st, 2020

Article source: Bernardo Bustamante Arquitectos

A family house for three persons, located in a private urbanization in the Valley of Cumbaya in Quito, where two-floor single family homes predominate.

The plot is located on the edge of the slope and the valley, so it was sought to place the house at the highest level, to obtain the best views. The project is a perpendicular bar to the street, which feeds on the best orientation and allows a large garden whose perception expands with the street and at the same time gives green to the public space.

Pinion House in São Paulo, Brazil by Mareines Arquitetura

Friday, February 14th, 2020

Article source: Mareines Arquitetura

Our first decision regarding how to approach the design of a house in Campos do Jordão , a city of temperate climate 1.600 meters above sea level in the mountains near São Paulo, was to avoid the local widespread European alps style. We wanted to hear what the earth asked for with its trees and people. We found a place rich in crafty workers, a lush nature with beautiful altitude pine trees called ARAUCARIA and a climate that is dry and cold most of the year.
