On a site covering nearly seven hectares in the Cité Descartes cluster in Marne-la-Vallée lies the Pôle Scientifique et Technique Paris-Est (PST) which has been baptised the Espace Bienvenüe in memory of Fulgance Bienvenüe, inspector general of the Ponts et Chaussées engineering school and father of the Parisian metro system. The space completes the Cité Descartes that has been incorporated into this new town and meets the needs of the programme imposed by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable development and Energy. Its aim is to group together the Ministry’s training and research facilities on the Marne-la-Vallée site and create a centre of excellence focussed on the sustainable city.
The University building with the Institute for Pharmacology and Food Chemistry of the Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main on the Bockenheim campus was planned 1954-1957 by Ferdinand Kramer. It is one of 23 buildings, which he designed as Planning Director for the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-University within the period of 1952-1964. Within the urban framework for the district Bockenheim, the building forms the southern terminus of the campus.

The programme of this competition, won in 2008 by Hamonic + Masson & Associés architects, was to reconstruct the Marne departmental archives annexe, situated in the French city of Reims. The new construction is located opposite the old building, and the project was completed and delivered by Hamonic + Masson & Associés in 2014. The aim was to turn the building in to a modern history research hub and a regional information centre, whilst expanding the linear archival storage space from 7km to 18km.
The space is designed as an R & D studio within headquarter of a textile company. The design concept was built on the physical relations among the users (R & D personnel), products, accessories, and the materials.
It was observed that actions of sitting, walking, working, evaluating the products by comparisons, performed in ordinary levels and locations, are limiting the function of R & D.
H. M. the Queen of Denmark opens the newly built research facilities for the Danish Meat Research Institute at the Danish Technological Institute in Taastrup – some of the world’s most advanced in food production.
The Danish Meat Research Institute (DMRI) develops solutions for the international meat industry and provide consultancy both nationally and internationally.
The new Kuwait Cardiac Research and Rehabilitation Center is a heart disease specialized center. It includes testing and laboratory departments in groundfloor, outpatient departments in first and second floor and there are also located inside of it a rehabilitation and a research center. The base unit of the hospital typological scheme is a module, which connects each consult room with two exam rooms, giving public access from one side and private from the other.
A ground-breaking ceremony has been held for the Hankook Technodome, a state-of-the-art new research and development facility for one of the world’s leading tyre manufacturers. The new centre is located in Daejeon, at the heart of Asia’s ‘silicon valley’, and will provide an inspirational place to work, with light filled offices, state-of-the-art laboratories and dynamic social spaces to nurture a culture of openness and innovation.
The design of the new centre is rooted in analysis of the organisation. Rather than a conventional arrangement of offices above double-height testing areas, the building is arranged as five fingers, with parallel office and industrial units – this dynamic, integrated arrangement is highly flexible and promotes visual connections and interaction between the offices, laboratories and different divisions. Breaks between each finger draw daylight into the heart of the floor plate.
The architectural programme of the Agora project – a center for the promotion of local innovation – is manifested in a building unifying four different functions, three of which are linked to science and research: Computer-science history exhibition, Informatorium (demonstration space of the latest information technology) and a demonstration laboratory presenting experiments in biophysics. Our client decided to add the youth center of the city to the programme as well in order to introduce the younger generation as the main target group to the world of science and technology.
The Cognitive Neuroscience department at the Maastricht University (Department of Psychology and Neuroscience) expressed its ambition in 2008 to further expand its name in the field of brain research. The department also wished to offer research groups and external parties the possibility of using advanced research facilities.
