O6A LOT Housing in Paris, France by sam architecture

Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Article source: sam architecture

Context

The urban regeneration zone of Clichy- Batignolles covers over 133 acres of land (54 hectares).

Located in the 17th Parisian precinct, it is one of the most ambitious urban projects currently led by the city.

The site bears the historical signs of transportation and logistics activities, facilitated by the train lines leading to Saint Lazare train station and the close beltway. Therefore, the stakes of the project can be summarized by the single idea of designing a dense built environment for this neighborhood. Hence creating the possibility to include this isolated railway site into a very much needed urban continuity.

Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Article source: New Wave Architecture

It is inevitable that the innate trend of human being is tangled to natural landscape, The location of p[roject is Mosha site in the vicinity of north side of Tehran in domains of Alborz mountains.

Intensive topography and location between mountains with sightseeing to flat plain of Mosha, inspired us to create sense of suspension and   wide view for all spaces.

Our goal of merging nature with human life led us to have vertical distribution of functions with less land occupation for building and hence allocates more portion of land to design landscape.

Tino House in Valencia, Spain by EMAC

Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Article source: EMAC

The access to the house occurs interchangeably through the back and front side of the plot, through two entrance yards with a jacaranda tree and a concrete bench. The approaching of the house happens in a frontal and horizontal way, through a vacuum in which the spaces of sun and shadow alternate almost infinitely. This threshold-gallery invites to cross the house from part to part without having to access the private areas, tangentially crossing the different spaces with a spine-like articulation.

Whistler Ski House in Canada by Olson Kundig

Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Article source: Olson Kundig

Set in the Coast Mountains of western Canada, Whistler Ski House is a family retreat built to withstand the harsh mountain environment. Elevated ten feet above grade, the main level provides a sense of occupying the tree canopy while also floating above snowdrifts and flood prone lake shore.

Due to the nature of the deep soft soil on the lake shore and the home’s location in a high seismic risk zone, the house is supported on a continuous 2-foot thick raft slab on densified soil, created by a series of vibro-densified rock columns that extend 60 to 68 feet deep into the ground. The raft slab “floats” on the densified soil which allows the house to remain stationary during a seismic event that would cause un-densified soil to slide into the lake.

River Studio in Bali, Indonesia by Alexis Dornier

Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Article source: Alexis Dornier

Initially being one of a three unit ensemble, the river studio is a 1 bedroom minimal home, a response to a few constraints and opportunities surrounding the lot shape. Being of extremely narrow nature, the lot required to contain the access road to the main house as a consequence of that we occupied the space on top of the driveway by cantilevering the small studio bedroom component over it, and created an upstairs.

Palma Hideaway is the result of an ongoing exploration on how to dwell ground floor spaces sited in bustling urban fabrics. (Case study continuation of Raval Hideaway Barcelona).

In this case, the owner acquired a 92sqm former motorcycle repair shop that had been long closed in the frontier of Palma de Mallorca’s old quarter. The space had generous free heights, a non used courtyard and was built in traditional mares stone (mallorcan limestone).

Article source: whipple russell architects

Guests coming up the front steps of this hilltop home are met with a Carrera marble sculpture by Richard Erdman, titled Serenade, selected by our clients, whose devotion to the process made this an especially joyful collaboration. Also part of the team were Robert Wright and Jason York of McCormick and Wright, who did the interior design and were a distinct pleasure to work with. There are a lot of details and non-standard finishes in this house – personal taste, not trendy taste.

Luxury Apartment in Miami, Florida by Fernanda Marques Arquitetos Associados

Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Article source: Fernanda Marques Arquitetos Associados

Living by the sea has been a habit experienced by generations of Brazilians. Overlooking miles of coast and seas of green has always seemed natural to life “on the shore”. What is not always obvious, however, is that each home built by the sea keeps its own characteristics and mood.

Los Tilos Residence in Los Angeles, California by whipple russell architects

Monday, February 17th, 2020

Article source: whipple russell architects

It is always our ambition for our clients to experience an emotional and sensory reaction upon entering a house of our design. “Ahh” and “Wow,” mean we’ve succeeded. Usually this initial response comes passing through the entry, or looking out to the horizon from inside the central living area. But for this project, located in the Outpost Estates area of the Hollywood Hills, the thrill begins while still in your car. “The property is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac, and we pushed the site out as far as possible on the slope, so the house is well below street level,” Marc Whipple explains. “This allowed us to do an upside down house; the approach is a curvy elevated driveway that’s pretty steep, as you go down the views just get better and better, the gates open and you are onto the roof of the house completely surrounded by south-facing “jetliner” views. So, the whole experience for the homeowner or a guest, just getting to the house, is very dramatic.”

Dr Lund Residential Building in Lagoa Santa, Brazil by Tetro Arquitetura + Humberto Hermeto Arquitetura

Monday, February 17th, 2020

Article source: Tetro Arquitetura + Humberto Hermeto Arquitetura

The Dr Lund Residential Building is located in Lagoa Santa, Minas Gerais, 40 km from Belo Horizonte. It is located on the corner between an avenue that is passage on the route between Belo Horizonte and the Serra do Cipó and a street that has only local traffic and is where you have your main access.

The building, constructed in concrete and masonry, was conceived as a horizontal object implanted longitudinally to the ground. It has seven floors and 95 meters in length. This strategy in the implantation and the horizontality of its form make its presence striking in the landscape.
