“The unconventional shape of the building land plus the required six-meter strip retreat along to the street guided the project implementation. The house was designed from clear volumes, natural materials, seeking cross ventilation, natural lighting and a delicate fit into the building site. Designed for a young couple and their children, the project’s premise was to guarantee full visual domain. The house develops around a central courtyard connecting the three well-defined wings: service, social and intimate, which all open completely to the central courtyard, allowing the house to be fully connected. Wooden brises and glass panels allow optional isolation and privacy when desired.
“San Sa”, formerly named as “The Third Hometown”, refers to a social space created for an introspective group of people who seek a space away from everyday life to recharge the mind, body, and spirit. The project is situated on a 2,000-square-meter unused plot of land, which was originally occupied by a gas station and about forty minutes’ walk from the Mutianyu Great Wall.
The proposal for this project was to create a stylish zen space for a young international family with two small children in the heart of Barcelona. Used to living in the countryside, they wanted their love for nature to be present in their urban dwelling as well and, above all, that it conveyed their personal taste and lifestyle.

Farmville is a mix-use building conceived for a specific program that could (and did) change during time. The project is the outcome of a competition won by AND-RÉ in 2010. At the time the project brief described a mix-use program that included the Agricultural Cooperative administration building, an Incubator for design start-ups, 10 houses for designers and artistic residences, shops, a Biological Market, restaurant, bar and an two level underground parking. The proposal aimed for a contemporary identity based in vernacular references translated to the design in the form of the icon archetype shape, thus promoting recognition and identification by collective memory. The separations between buildings open the building to the city, allowing pedestrian crossings and transversal permeability that ensures urban and social experiences of proximity.

In northern Italy, on the hills of Bergamo, at Trescore, stands a contemporary private residence surrounded by nature, the result of a project by architect Michele Rubbi.
The geometries of textured volumes intersect to define the structure of this residence that is configured through horizontal and vertical lines; spaces interpenetrate one other and develop following the oblique stretches, diagonal cuts and sharp edges that lend dynamism to the whole, generating cantilever volumes.
This apartment is part of a building that occupies the entire south limit of Largo do Carmo, in Lisbon. Following the principles of Pombaline architecture, it has the particularity to incorporate a small palace on the lower floors and luxury apartments on the upper floors. In spite of the different occupations in the last two centuries, its interior kept a big spatial, constructive and decorative quality.

The Argivai House, in Póvoa de Varzim, is located on the outskirts of the city, an area with different housing types, some crop fields and small warehouses.
The lot has an irregularly shape, is very narrow next to the street, and allows the construction of two floors, without providing any annex or basement. The covered area, on the side of the house, protects a car from the rain and also the access to the main entrance of this house.
The interior organization defines the circulation and service spaces (bathrooms and laundry room) in the central area of the house, leaving larger spaces (living room, kitchen and bedrooms) on the main facades.
On an architecturally unique block in south Williamsburg Brooklyn, STUDIOSC was commissioned for the design of a ground up 4 story townhouse. Taking its cues from the intersecting views and existing context the facade presents a strong presence upon approach. Clean interiors throughout all the floors allow for a seamless programming of the home as well as moments of bold statements, such as the master bathroom brick screen, elegant kitchen opening to a well-appointed yard, and the dramatic 2nd floor balcony space that seamlessly integrates interior and exterior. Working together with the developer, the idea was to create a home that tied it’s context and environment into the design methods at every opportunity.
Located in Mora de Rubielos (Spain), this four-story detached house has a modern rustic style that maintains the spirit of the surroundings, framing unbeatable views of the Castle and the church in one direction, and rising over a large wooded orchard in the other. Both interior and exterior materials are respectful of the protected environment where it is located -woods and natural stones, type of holes …- without neglecting the design and the most absolute comforts, as is the case of the glazed panoramic elevator that communicate the different heights.
