The firm’s most recent, small-scale conceptual projects include:
99% AIR, artgenève
Conceived for artgenève 2019–an art fair and exhibition featuring nearly 90 prestigious galleries representing artists at the forefront of contemporary art, modern art and contemporary design–this conceptual venue space transformed air into the primary construction material through the use of inflatable elements for seating and staging. The material waste after 99% AIR was dismantled reduced it to 1% of its total mass.

When I visited the triangular site in Cheongpyeong Lake, I felt as if I was floating on the lake. It was like standing on a prow. The whole site was composed of gneiss, giving it an image of hard and solid earth. Inspired by the land, we started the master plan for a unique leisure experience. The site is about 2,500 pyeong (approx 8,264.5m2), largely divided into exterior space, art gallery, restaurant, welcome center, and glamping area. Access circulation is divided into public areas, open to everyone; the art gallery, which is semi-public; and glamping zones, used as private accommodation for guests. Boulders, which consist of rocks that settled down there, were reinterpreted as a platform that overlooks the lake, i.e. an open square. The spaces required were realized as places embedded in the rock. It is designed so that the architecture is not exposed, but made in the earth, where the roof of the space is the platform, or the square. Stairs, floors and ramps were made using rocks from the site, so that actions such as walking barefoot and lying on the ground would take place in the outdoor space.
A radical take on the glamping concept has been launched in South Korea, offering guests the experience of being within a natural setting while enjoying the comfort of architecturally-designed, self-contained living spaces arranged around a communal facility.
This new ‘minimalist luxury’ resort – adjacent to the Seungju Country Club in Suncheon – consists of sixteen brightly-coloured living units with an associated reception/restaurant. Each unit offers guests approximately 50m² of living area, as well as two bedrooms and a kitchen and a bathroom manufactured as off-site units.
This new resort, recently completed on a spectacular beachfront site, is intended to be distinctly Byron Bay and Australian in character. Byron Bay is the easterly most point of Australia, located about 2 hours south of Brisbane. The region is very well known for its rich agricultural history and the abundant fauna and flora which flourish in and around the ancient Mt Warning volcanic caldera. Designed to be sensitive and respectful of its site, which includes rare littoral rainforest, ponds, a diverse wildlife, native landscape, ocean and wetlands.

Each project is a different story, an immersion in the reality in which the structure to be realized is and a search for the most correct languages to tell it.
More than 140 projects in the world and the storytelling of CaberlonCaroppi always manages to amaze. It starts from the location, from the place and from the city, to get to know the genius loci of each structure, to catch its soul and transfer it to the project, always stirring emotions.
