DROO create a bespoke wood floor and wall panelling system to create a strikingly warm interior to an industrial shell, for Chef Leandro Carreira’s first permanent restaurant in London.
Located in the Snowsfield Yard development in London Bridge, DROO was tasked with transforming a large, empty unit into a warm and comfortable space that complements the food and drink offering. The rough industrial elements of the space like the concrete and the high ceilings were kept and complemented with refined bespoke panelling.
An extension project led to a space in which the line between interior and exterior is deliberately light and ethereal – a mere diaphragm between the cloister and the 17th-century monastery that is home to the Truffle Bistrot.
A commercial building was built for a Japanese restaurant, a cafe and small shops sharing a concept that enhances local values of food and materials. It is located in a residential area of a suburban town in Kampala, Uganda. We designed the building with a big thatched roof that complements the gently sloping land at right angles to the contour lines keeping 5 existing trees.
The slope was too gradual for people to recognize, so we tried to take advantage of this character through our design. At its lowest point, it is a two-story building, while in the middle, the basement sinks into the landscape. The ground floor, under the level of 4m plus a parking level, is made out of concrete and steel, and 1st floor is made out of timber, eucalyptus.
Whether a kaiseki cuisine is attractive is just determined at the moment when one entering the door.
Inspired by the love story of Sakura rain, the design of Omakase erased the sadness of story without a trace. It broke some preconceived traditional ideas and challenged the widely accepted standard of behavior. Started with the design concept of Sakura and dew, the Sakura petals and dewdrops are combined in the glass partition in a creative way, achieving a virtual-real synthesis and crystal-clear decorative effects. At the same time, the boundless pink Sakura is in contrast with the golden Tatami room, as if one entered a Sakura labyrinth. With the dynamic lighting, the blooming Sakura and exquisitely carved dewdrops make a feast of Sakura. Such a poetic environment seized the heart of a maiden.
On the corner of a quiet canal street and De Clerqstraat in Amsterdam you can find the new girl in town: Ramona. This vibrant, authentic space designed by Studio Modijefsky is the refreshing latest addition to the Amsterdam West hospitality scene.
Imagine if a young, rebellious daughter of a traditional Belgian cafe owner was opening her own place- Ramona would be it. The interior references the tradition of classic bars with plenty of dark wood, stained glass, protective wall panelling, and mirror finishes; all reinvented with a much younger attitude.
This unusual combination results in a bohemian space, where bold details and unexpectedly layered materials create an eccentric vibe in its own right.
Lagranja Design and its second ¨The Populist¨ in Istanbul
Lagranja Design was commissioned to design the second ¨The Populist¨ restaurant, located in Bebek, a sophisticated neighborhood of Istanbul. In the meantime, the first ¨The Populist¨ became one of the most frequented leisure facilities of the Turkish Capital.
Two years ago, Lagranja design studio in Barcelona undertook an ambitious project in Istanbul. The challenge consisted in the conversion of Turkey’s first beer company into a modern brewery with an industrial overall look, inspired by the graphic language of the Prohibition period. The result was ¨The Populist¨, located in the Bomonti area, restaurant acclaimed by ¨Time Out¨ as the best place to be in Istanbul.
Lagranja Design now completed the second restaurant for the same brand. This time, the project of the second ¨The Populist¨ had some distinct spatial characteristics that demanded new ideas and solutions, therefore it could not just adapt to the design. The new ¨The Populist¨ is located in the former space of a garden villa, in Bebek, a wealthy neighborhood on the Bosphorus strait.

The combination of service-oriented business with new business forms is a trend. The designer experimentally integrates the subsidiary functions of the project with main business, re-optimizes the main functions of parent-child sports training, and builds the project into a comprehensive space for swimming and sports education, integrating entertainment and leisure.
The entire parent-child swim club is divided into five main functional areas and some auxiliary functional areas, all of which are centered around the behavioral habits of its target audience. In order to break the limitation of the spatial floor plan, the designer has worked out a streamlined flow after fully considering the user habits and potential behaviors of different target groups, so that adults, children and infants could all enjoy its caring service on this line.
