Villa Lepic Boutique Hotel in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire by PAOLA BAGNA

Sunday, March 31st, 2019

Article source: PAOLA BAGNA

The former governor of Abidjan’s residence was remodelled by architect Paola Bagna as 4* boutique hotel.

The design takes its cue from the Ivory Coast villa’s mid century style and tropical surroundings to charm guests with understated yet luxurious materials and forms.

Nestled between palm trees and tropical plants, this Le Corbusier inspired diamond in the rough had retained it’s appeal despite waterproofing and conservation problems. Over three years, Paola Bagna directed a renovation of the home, transforming it into a boutique hotel of 17 rooms including reception area, restaurant, meeting rooms / event space, bar, wellness area, indoor and outdoor lounges and a swimming pool.

Dock G6 – Radisson Blu in Bordeaux, France by atelier d’architecture king kong

Friday, March 29th, 2019

Article source: atelier d’architecture king kong

Dock G6 lies on the concrete slab around the wet docks, situated between the neighbourhoods of the Chartrons and Bacalan in Bordeaux. It enjoys a prime position, directly adjacent to wet dock n°1 and situated between the Promenade des Bassins and Rue Lucien Faure which runs from the Jacques Chaban-Delmas vertical lift bridge to the start of Cours Balguerie-Stuttenberg.

Before the Nicolas Michelin et Associés (ANMA) agency defined an urban redevelopment plan for the area in 2010, the concrete slab was home to an industrial site comprising warehouses, storage silos, wet and dry docks, a submarine base, cranes and a lot of very silty water… These elements shaped a universe enriched by the varied palette of its raw materials and which was in need of a form of redevelopment which would not betray its essence. This is why the architectural identity of this hotel complex has been designed on the principle of an inhabited exoskeleton which enters into meaningful dialogue with the spirit of the place.

Hotel Das Triest, Porto Bar in Vienna, Austria by BEHF Architects

Tuesday, March 26th, 2019

Article source: BEHF Architects

Vienna’s boutique design hotel DAS TRIEST, a popular accommodation choice among international artists and celebrities, has expended its offerings with the acquisition of the neighbouring property on the Margaretenstrasse which has now been renovated. BEHF Architects has been commissioned for the interior design of the bar and restaurant area.

Located in the heart of Vienna’s hip Freihaus district for more than hundred years, Das Triest combines elements of the original suburban architecture with the charm of the Biedermeier. The intersection Rilkeplatz is the junction of Margaretenstrasse and Wiedner Hauptstrasse. Coming from Freihaus district, characterised by an open culture and a bustling restaurant scene, one immerses oneself in a seemingly different world of the bourgeois, expansive Wiedner Hauptstrasse. It is precisely in this point of tension that the open character of Das Triest will find its place. Its new bar and restaurant area will open up to the city’s life as far as the laws of physics allow.

The SPOJOVNA brewery is located on the border of three Prague districts – Chodov, Kunratice and Šeberov.

This area is unique for its composition of residents.

It is a blend of different worlds (which are also a beer names): študák, being represented by a student hostel, kravaťák – a business one in the nearby office park, and fešák – the common life of the housing estate inhabitants.

Omnicos cosmetics in Crema, Italy by Beppe Riboli Studio

Article source: Beppe Riboli Studio

Three different architectures describe a unique architectonic scenery.

1. The Headquarter

I wanted it to be a light, suspended architecture, like a swarm of butterflies.

It’s a manifest, communicates the company’s philosophy and creativity.

The box- esternal skin is crossed and supported by sinuous waves, to form spaces, empty and full, offices, gardens, terraces.

Here everything is white, clean, aseptic.

Koller + Koller am Waagplatz Restaurant in Salzburg, Austria by BEHF Architects

Sunday, March 24th, 2019

Article source: BEHF Architects

The listed Koller + Koller am Waagplatz restaurant is one of the city’s most historic buildings and restaurants, while also representing an important social and cultural facility for the city of Salzburg. After undergoing a significant six-month-renovation, Koller + Koller am Waagplatz opens its doors with a brand new look.

BEHF Architects has envisioned a design strategy which brings in the 21st-century to the interior’s aesthetic, giving it a refreshing and contemporary update, and at the same time highlights the historic characteristics of the city’s iconic building from the 12th century. As part of the redesign, an entrance, dining areas and sanitary facilities located on the ground floor have been renovated. An unused second entrance has been re-opened in order to provide separate, direct access to the upper levels as well as to the Freysauff cellar, which has remained essentially unchanged since its construction. The original design of the spaces distributed over upper floors has been left intact and reflects the history of the family-owned company.

KMH – The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden by AIX Arkitekter

Sunday, March 17th, 2019

Article source: AIX Arkitekter

A music workshop cloaked in shimmering gold glass that arouses curiosity and anticipation. Since 2003 we have been instrumental in development of the Royal College of Music (KMH) in Stockholm. The goal has been ambitious – to create the world’s most modern college of music. Along the way we have faced several challenges. Aside from overall high demands on tone control and noise insulation, the educational environment also contains public spaces for performances and experiences. From the exterior, the composition of the new buildings for the College of Music has been interwoven with the listed historic stable facility, creating an inviting whole that enriches both the activities within and the urban landscape. At the Royal College of Music, 21,600 square metres of musical experiences have taken shape and as of 2016 are part of the cultural scene in Stockholm, Sweden and Europe.
