This building with Gwanghwamunhaemul is believed to have been built in 1940. We wanted to see the Gwanghwamunhaemul as a brand suitable for Jeong-dong, where the modern and old tastes coexist, and thought that they were both modern and contemporary in the 1940s.
So, before we started to look for the old look of space, we started ironing out the wooden ceiling, the interior and exterior structural material of the metal, as well as the modern design elements.
The fish drank, the meat was crying… On Velyka Vasylkivska street in Kyiv appeared the new fish establishment – fish bar with ambiguous name «Ryba-Pyla», which became a reflection of its general concept and gave inspiration for creativity in interior design. For life-style brand “Genshang”, We designed their new tea house on Madang road, downtown of Shanghai. The client wishes to have a place for the slow life in contrast with the daily fast-paced life. We approached the project by making a gentle sequence, from the entrance shop, long tea bar, dining area to the lounge room at the end.
The project is located on the 1st floor of a commercial complex. The main entrance is set up on the inner side of the shopping complex, framed by copper, another interpretation of their brand colour. The door is recessed and open to the side, in order to welcome the guest gently into the shop. The lower display, together with translucent fabric softly hides space behind, and shift the passage to the side.

It was 2014, a peculiar year during which Robin Williams left us, Germany won the football World Cup and we Italians found out that there is a great woman amongst us: Samanta Cristoforetti, the first Italian woman to take part in the international space station, an epic challenge.

Traditionally, in South India the word Darshini refers to a place that runs on the concept of ‘payfirst, eatlater’ Udupi style restaurants, which are similar to the fast food chains seen in the West. It was primarily intended to serve the rush hour crowd, and the dishes served were breakfast or snack items that require minimal fuss- both for the chef and the customer. A darshini set-up in Bangalore brings to mind steel tables jam-packed with customers standing around steaming plates of idli-vada, sipping a filter coffee and looking out onto the street which might just be inches away. Our clients approached us with a simple brief – “a darshini on the site along the highway in Hoskote”
