Excellence, quality and elegance: three values typical of Made in Italy, which Valextra has been representing and exporting worldwide. Through its timeless, elegant creations, shown in boutiques designed by the world’s most respected talent, the brand made discreet and refined luxury its signature style, becoming a global ambassador for aesthetic research and creativity. After Kengo Kuma’s redesign of the Milanese boutique, and the new flagship stores in London and Chengdu, Valextra picked Hong Kong as its next Asian destination. The project was entrusted to British designer Max Lamb, one of the most critically acclaimed designers worldwide.
The 900 North Michigan Shops in Chicago, IL has been an anchor of the Magnificent Mile since the building was completed in 1988, and the luxury mall recently underwent a renovation process to modernize both exterior and interior spaces. To complete the main entrance redesign on North Michigan Avenue, Ellison Bronze custom balanced doors provide the perfect complementary entrance to the central revolving doors.
Sisecam’s global design brand Nude just opened its shop-in-shop located inside Pasabahce Stores. The concept designed and executed by Demirden | ilio transforms the brand’s founding motto into a leading retail experience with an architectural language that spans the entire store.
“Nude looks at life through the lens of simplicity; decluttering and distilling, marrying form with function, always reflecting the lifestyle of less-ordinary people.”
In 2017, the legendary French boutique Colette permanently closed. The Shanghai store of Triple-Major also declared closing. The shutting down of these two boutique leaders brought surprises to the entire business; yet many other boutique stores in China continued flourishing, as more than a thousand have now appeared—therefore, a clear commercial proposition, a unique understanding to pop culture, and a deep evaluation of humanity have become crucial rules in order to stand out from this rave of multi-brand boutique stores.
As a multi-brand boutique that brings together hot seasonal items from trendy brands and fashion weeks all over t……..he world, CHOCLAB collaborates with YEBIN DESIGN and tries to interpret the contemporary human centered design by proposing a new idea for commercial space—“new interpretation with the right amount of balance”.
The project-site is located on a territory along the train tracks next to the Rennes main station and forms part of the EuroRennes development. Located at the geographic center of the city of Portland, YARD is a 21 story mixed-use building that combines residential, commercial, retail, office and parking.
Positioned in the rapidly changing central east side of downtown Portland, at the base of the iconic Burnside Bridge and skate park, the site presented a multitude of challenges, both at an infrastructure and cultural level.
Aedas-designed Hong Leong City Center in Suzhou, China, recently opened its doors. As the first commercial project developed in China by Singapore-listed City Developments Limited, this mixed-use urban development in Suzhou Industrial Park offers hotel, office, retail, and serviced apartments programmes with a 150-metre hotel and office tower, a 150-metre SOHO tower, two 100-metre residential towers and a central commercial podium HLCC Mall. While facing planning conditions that limit building heights and massing, the four towers are allocated at the four corners of the site to maximise views towards the nearby Jinji Lake. The façade of the two taller towers are also designed in a unified coordination to produce a twin-tower effect.
Part of our ongoing Western occupation, Ikebana’s name gives you a hint at the story behind this new residential and retail project in West Melbourne. Yes it’s Japanese-inspired, but without the cliché – you won’t find any Hello Kitty here (although we can promise a karaoke room). Instead, we took the concepts behind the fêted Japanese aesthetic as our point of departure for the architecture – an attention to (nano) detail and dedication to hand-made traditions is set against a natural, formal backdrop.

This might be the first time you’ve heard us say this but at our new mixed-use project at 134-160 Spencer Street there’s actually less than meets the eye. Well, kind of. It’s true that the responsive approach to precinct regeneration sets a new bar for mixed-use developments. We could even say that this building, which sits directly in front of Southern Cross station – the first thing people see when arriving – will anchor the increased westerly shift of the CBD, heralded by the regeneration of Docklands, Fishermen’s Bend and Southbank.

SkB Architects is the collaborative design architect on the exterior of this significant new development, including the design of how the tower base meets the street, and the design of the tower’s three main entries. The design goal is to evolve the tower’s base to create an inviting and vibrant pedestrian experience, while honoring Willis Tower’s role as a unique Chicago and American icon: to create a sense of place, not just a place to work.
