Wednesday, February 20th, 2013

Article source: BudCud

Bularnia is an honest, functional office space on the ground floor of postindustrial building on the outskirts of Cracov. The goal was to introduce more natural light to dark and overpowering interior. This move redefined new proportions of space and optically enlarged narrow and low room. What’s more, light and transparent finishing materials, such as glass, delicate steel mesh and perforated boards were used to emphasize the openness of new office space.

The Curving House in Gyeonggi-do, Korea by JOHO Architecture

There is no home for parking

I remember that it was a winter day after snowing when I first visited the site. It was a rare residential lot with an open view to the south at the dead end of a small path beneath Mt. Gwanggyo. What was unique about this lot was that it was very hard to turn the car to come out of the path after more than 2 cars parked, because it was a small path only 4 m in width.  Ironically, the fundamental challenge was not only solving the parking problem but also creating a space for both parking and gardening to coexist.

Podčetrtek Traffic Circle in Podčetrtek, Slovenia by ENOTA Architects

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013

Article source: ENOTA Architects

The Podčetrtek Traffic Circle is built on a regional road located between the municipal sports hall with open-air sports grounds on one side and a spa centre with numerous swimming pools and hotels on the other side. It is primarily intended to slow down the traffic in this consequently very busy area as the main accesses to both complexes also connect to the traffic circle. The design of the roundabout’s central island thus references the appearance of both facilities and marks the entrance points to the destinations of the visitors to either of the programme centers.

One of Grundfos Dormitory’s remarkable characteristics is providing student housings in the heart of Aarhus’ new harbour front development – that is, a low cost residential building on a very attractive site. Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

Article source: RA Architectural & Design Studio

The new Eco-resort of Parque de Pedras Salgadas, Portugal, consists of a set of seven small houses in perfect harmony with the surrounding outstanding nature.

Designed in a modular prefabrication system but flexible to adapt to the specific places within the park, these houses result in several different combinations of the same three modules (entrance/bathing – living – sleeping) creating different morphologies and different dialogues with the surrounding nature, wisely occupying the empty spaces between the trunksof large trees and, at the same time, allowing each home to be unique, special and worth visiting.
