end…Link Beauty Salon in Osaka, Japan by Yasunari Tsukada Design

Thursday, May 16th, 2013

Article source: Yasunari Tsukada Design

The name of this beauty salon was inspired by the owner’s passionate desire to turn it into a destination for “the last word in beauty”. Although the design was first completed about five years ago, the previous premises soon grew to feel a little cramped due to the rapidly expanding size of the team, which prompted the owner to move to a new and larger location.

Ajax Beauty Salon in Osaka, Japan Yasunari Tsukada Design

Saturday, February 16th, 2013

Article source: Neoplus Sixten inc.

We were commissioned to design the premises of a newly opened hair salon within a multi-tenant building located in Kyobashi, an old downtown area of Osaka. During our visit, we found the site to be a pleasant, well-lit space with many windows. The owner’s requirements were for “a styling space that brings sunlight into the interior while also hiding the exterior landscape from view.”

Article source: Sid Lee Architecture

Sid Lee Architecture and Ædifica turned the parking area at Place des Arts into a Salon Urbain, a versatile new space ideal
for meeting up before or after a musical performance, a gallery visit or a conference. The Salon Urbain fully captures the
artistic appeal of the site, located at the St. Urbain entrance of the Place des Arts and next to the new concert hall.
“The Salon Urbain boasts a conveniently central location, but it really comes to life during events,” explains Martin Leblanc,
architect and partner at Sid Lee Architecture. “The space is a destination in itself and a welcoming prelude to the musical
and social experience it precedes.”

Student Salon in London, UK by Feix&Merlin

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

Article source: Feix&Merlin

THE STUDENT SALON NOW

The LSE’s student salon is currently an unsuccessful space: Its walls are cluttered with unsightly alarm sounders, fire extinguishers and cable trunking, a big vending maching in front of the window blocks views in and out of the space and the big recycling bins are in everybody’s way. The lighting is mismatched and inappropriate for the type of use and the furniture is neither inviting nor comfortable. The space is quite simply not very attractive.

  • Name of Project: Student Salon
  • Location: London, UK
  • Software used: Vectorworks for the cad drawing package. Hand sketches, images and drawings were collated in InnDesign for presentations.
