The Jean Monnet secondary school for around 600 students lies north of Broons, a 3000-resident town in Brittany, and is considered one of the most important educational facilities in the region.
The design by Dietrich | Untertrifaller Architekten and the French firm CDA (Colas Durand Architectes) reflects the concept of a modern school. Light wood, robust exposed concrete, a fresh red color and lots of glass characterize the warm, open atmosphere of the interior. The natural and untreated materials also pay tribute to local building traditions. The reinforced concrete design of the ground floor features a Breton stone facade, while the two-story classroom section in a mixed timber and concrete construction is covered with strips of wood. The clear and structured spatial organization facilitates an ideal workflow.
The team brought the Early Childhood Education department’s mission to life. Children play and laugh in front of a fantasy-inspired decor where the imaginary meets the natural world. Educators are depicted in the form of large watermark silhouettes that nurture the children and help them develop. Large circles dot the corridors; a nod to the importance of movement and relationships within the department. The circles represent the close connection and communication between educator and child and between child and educator.
A school is a community: a micro-society, a mini city within a city. It is an oasis yet has a direct relationship with the city at large. Our idea is simple; the spatial concept for the Kai Tak Primary School is to bring the students and teachers together with the playground and other spaces and activities, to encourage interactions. Breaking away from the typical densely built 8-storey school building in Hong Kong with the ball court on the ground, this school adopts a low-rise 4-storey design, with the basketball court raised on the first floor, sited in the middle of the school campus, creating a focus, pulling together spaces and activities.
No.12 Middle School is one of the best schools in Beijing. There is a strong need from the neighborhood to have the School incorporate kindergarten education in their curriculum. The kindergarten of the school strives for building the best school of the neighborhood, and the architecture of it reflects its ambition. On top of that, the architecture aims for shaping a unique character for the school while enlivening the area of the city.

The project involved the rehabilitation of a former boarding school built in the late nineteenth century, in the area of Cerro Alegre in Valparaíso. In a slope and with access to two pedestrian streets, the building is located above the Dimalow promenade overlooking it with its main facade while releasing a backyard towards the Caracoles passage.
English for Fun, founded in Spain in 2011, uses a revolutionary method for children of any age or physical condition to learn English using their five senses. English for Fun is a place for all children to learn. This pedagogical approach is based in the idea that every child is special and unique.
Amsterdam is, today, a major european city consolidated on an important architectural tradition. A strong sense of identity and belonging is very characteristic of both the city and the country -defined by its permanent fight between the sea and the territory conquered to it- and that reflects on a generalized concern over the quality of public spaces and their collective enjoyment.
Hence, the Amsterdam Children’s Playschool starting point was the idea of having a children daycare center as a device to qualify an abandoned public space.
Designed over an abandoned dock, this proposal combines classrooms with exterior patios, with different uses and diverse degrees of privacy (some more public functioning as plazas, others semi-private with flexible uses, others totally private for the exclusive use of the daycare center).
Nara province where the site located has 8 world heritage architectures. So this city has a lot of history. On the other side, the site is located at the center of the industrial residence in Yamatokoriyama city. Surrounding is a special sight with simple and no color factories. This project is to reform an old kindergarten at that site.
The new vocational high school at Voss (Norway) designed by Nordic — Office of Architecture and AART architects combines theory and practice in an inspiring learning environment bathed in light with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.
The new vocational high school at Voss opened this autumn and caters for around 400 students and 100 staff. The Norwegian-Danish team behind several prominent education buildings in Scandinavia took inspiration from the surrounding environment, creating an interpretation of the traditional Norwegian barn common to the area. A composition of “barns” surrounding a series of “farmyards” provides the framework for various educational and social activities. The architects strive to stimulate the students by drawing nature and daylight into the school buildings through the generous glazing and timber cladding both inside and out.
