Saturday, September 12th, 2015

Article source: Fischer Architekten AG

Competition, Dübendorf 2015; first place: By continuing the existing development pattern – four staggered elongated structures – the new building sharpens the differentiation of the outer space. It thereby enhances the existing ensemble character and gives rise to a series of sheltered schoolyards.

School Sobrosa in Paredes, Portugal by CNLL

Wednesday, September 9th, 2015

Article source: CNLL

This school was designed as a playful combination of modules that can be easily adapted to the variations of the terrain and the topography of the place. It develops the concept established in the modular schools project (CEM – Centros Escolares Modulares) and revisits the original objective where the movement, variation and formal complexity of the exterior contrast with the linearity of the interior planes that structure the functional areas.

Kaohsiung American School Design Concept in Taiwan by MAYU architects+

Tuesday, September 8th, 2015

Article source: MAYU architects+

An international school strives to nurture its students to become world citizens through a community of teachers and classmates of various nationalities as well as diverse educational methods. The Kaohsiung American School (KAS), as such an entity, has thrived for more than twenty-five years by attracting talented teachers and students alike even though it has negotiated with limited physical presence because of relocations and use of older facilities. By leasing the former Victory Elementary Public School site from the Kaohsiung City government, KAS finally has a permanent home at the current site not far from the Lotus Pond, a famed tourist attraction. The new school built on this site is well thought out and curriculum based to better meet the needs of all students.

Baltar School in Paredes, Portugal by CNLL

Tuesday, September 8th, 2015

Article source: CNLL

Located in the middle of a school and sports complex, this building differs from the other schools as it offers a wider programme, catering for primary and middle school children. This exposed concrete building with scattered windows is characterised by a simultaneously sober and contemporary language. It has clear and objective lines, free from superfluous elements, where the careful relationship between solid and empty spaces creates a pure composition and a symbiotic harmony between the parts and the whole.

So we planned parking area for cars and bicycles outside and a few rooms for office and dressing inside of the 1st floor. At the whole of 2nd floor, we planned classic ballet studio as much as possibly widely.

Tabuaço Municipal Swimming Pool in Portugal by Topos Atelier de Arquitectura, Lda

Thursday, September 3rd, 2015

Article source: Topos Atelier de Arquitectura, Lda

The building is located in an area of difficult geological, topographical and accessibility conditions. The choice of this location, near the city park, the outdoor swimming pools, the sports hall and schools, aims to create a center of educational activities capable of producing a momentum for the consolidation and upgrading of the urban environment of this part of the city. For the viability of the land, it was necessary to design a new route that by continuing the existing fabric, will fix part of the urban expansion around the existing core.

Orientierungsschule Vouvry, Switzerland by Berrel Berrel Kräutler Architekten

Friday, August 28th, 2015

Article source: Berrel Berrel Kräutler Architekten

The Wallisian Alps rise in silhouette above the new Vouvry district school house, which lies on a flat plain between historic Vouvry village and the Rhone river. Larger-than-life commercial structures have long defined the character of settlements along the Rhone valley, and this new construction – which accommodates both classrooms and a sports arena under one roof – fits the mold perfectly.

Extension Of Orientation School in Kerzers, Switzerland by Morscher Architekten BSA SIA AG

Wednesday, August 19th, 2015

Article source:  Morscher  Architekten BSA SIA AG

The school’s extension responds clearly and confidently to the large neighbouring buildings. A new entrance gives onto a spacious multi-storey hall. The group rooms are stacked one atop the other and can be read as simple boxes in the airspace, resulting in interesting sightlines. The administrative and special use rooms are located on both the lower level and ground floor, while the upper storeys hold the classrooms. The building is constructed of natural, robust materials that already have a lovely patina and are able to withstand a high degree of wear. The façade and some corridor areas are made of concrete. The classroom walls are lined with acoustic panels that double as bulletin boards. The ceiling has been left raw and can be used for heat storage. With this extension of the school’s classroom tract, a compact building has been created with short routes and an interesting central area suitable for a variety of uses.

Strawberry Vale Elementary School in Victoria, British Columbia by Patkau Architects

Wednesday, August 19th, 2015

Article source: Patkau Architects

Strawberry Vale School is a public school for students from kindergarten to grade seven. The site is in a semirural area on the outskirts of Victoria and immediately north of a Garry oak woodland, a rare and delicate ecosystem unique to the region. The design of the school is inspired by the environmental knowledge embedded in the vernacular language of rural buildings; like such buildings, the structure aspires to give architectural form to natural forces.
