The intervention is located in the upper part of the village, in a magnificently sunny place and with privileged and spectacular views, as a result of the pronounced and eventful topography. The proposal tries to regularize and arrange, in the most harnessed possible way, different exterior spaces, at the same time it aims to achieve a good connection and orientation of the different program parts.
Mixed Use development comprising a primary school, community centre, retail and residential units. This project forms part of a new infrastructure programme in the Syhlet region of Bangladesh. The project is currently at Detailed Design stage and is on-going through funding from NWT and Local Government.
The commission is originated by the need from the school to augment the total surface of the courtyard that due to the great amount of students and parents that usually gather during the day, can sometimes obstruct the correct developing of the sports and leisure activities that should take place in it. The courtyard is 33 meters wide per 35 meters long and has a South East Orientation. It is formed by the existing school that has a U form with two wings, one from the 50´s and another one form the 70´s.
An old school room in outer-suburban Dingley was the studio of the Art Day South artists. 12 artists, each with an intellectual disability, and 4 art mentors were producing wonderful art in banal surroundings, isolated from other art groups and organisations. For artists like Howard Arkaley and Jeffrey Smart the suburbs are their muse; for the Art Day South artists their singular suburban spot isolated and marginalised them. Like so many people with disabilities the Art Day South artists were relegated to the fringe of our culture.
Built in the 1980s the school complex in St.Veit/Glan houses the “Bundesrealgymnasium” and the “HLW” with around 1100 students. With additions and reorganization arrangements the existing building is upgraded to the latest technological standards. In the existing structures the classrooms where re-organized, the fire safety and escape routes where improved and the whole building is barrier free accessible.
The IUFM (Institut Universitaire de Formation des Maîtres – Primary School Teacher Training Institute) is located in the former Ecole Normale pour Garçons, a building dating from 1885 in a large property called Clos Fayet in the Croix-Rousse district of Lyon. This building has all the architectural features of the typical late 19th century to mid-20th century French school. It has been inopportunely encroached upon by recent constructions.
This new public school for 500 students is located in a tough South Los Angeles neighborhood almost directly under the flight path into LAX and adjacent to the very busy 105 Century freeway. The design was influenced by the New Orleans architects Curtis and Davis who designed and built many schools in the early 1950s in Louisiana. Their designs adapted to the harsh southern climate without using air conditioning, creating sustainable light filled and poetic spaces for kids to learn.
The building is located in Limeil-Brevannes, near Paris. It Consists of three preschools and elementary schools of two. As the method of commissioning was used so called “design-build” system, Where the competition offers teams Both the building and all planes are fixed price. Beside schools, an apartment building of social housing flats of 46 was included to the competition program. Time for the competition was one month. The decision for the winner was made in April 2011 and the inauguration of the building was Held 18 months later. The building of the apartment building next starts in April.
The new campus of ENSTA Paris Tech, which invested the location of Palaiseau, perfectly merges into the geometry of the structuring axes of the “Ecole Polytechnique”. In the heart of the area, it provides a new identity to the landscape..
The school, which is the main building of ENSTA ParisTech campus, lands along the boulevard surrounded by a vast redesigned space with lawns and trees. The exterior conviviality space, which is naturally blended into the rolling design of the park, provides plenty of space for social interaction.
Due to the increasing number of students, the local Oostduinkerke school needed to expand. The building premises are situated in the centre of town, in between the backyards of the surrounding buildings. The newly constructed nursery section will be partly underground. This way, the new building creates a number of benefi ts: A scenic integration with the build-up environment and a spacious outside play area for the children. All classes walk out into a wind-free covered class garden that serves as a safe outside area.
