The Racket Submarine in Himeji, Japan by Matsuya Art Works / KTX archiLAB

Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

Article source: Matsuya Art Works / KTX archiLAB

The Racketectonics Archifixture is not a building, but rather a huge fixture made into a building. The new flagship store for Wada Sports is all about the racket; the racket as a product, but also as an element of the architectural design.

The inside of the shop features a large elliptical metallic structure which role is both supporting the building and embodying the rackets’ fixture. Standing at 5.5m high from floor to ceiling, the ellipse is built into two parts; the retail and the exhibition.

Article source: OFF Arch

Moschino is opening a new flagship store in the heart of the French capital on rue Saint-Honoré. Creative Director Jeremy Scott wanted to transform the magnificent late-18th-century building in pierre de Paris into an exhibit-like space inspired by modern art galleries.

The new store concept, which was conceived and curated by architect Fabio Ferrillo in respect of the original essence of the interior, covers 270 square meters divided on two levels between the ground and first floors, which are visually connected through a two-story space and imposing curved staircase that becomes the focus of the architectural perspective.

Aesop Duke of York Square in Chelsea, London by Snøhetta

Tuesday, November 6th, 2018

Article source: Snøhetta

Situated in Chelsea, London, the store’s design is inspired by the contextual relevance of the location combined with an influence of futuristic elements. The result is an interior characterized by classic architypes, a pale red color palette, and stainless-steel elements.

An existing column is used as the starting point for the store’s layout. From this centralized column, 12 arches stretch towards the perimeter walls. This series of arches function as a key element in creating a sense of organizational hierarchy, establishing visual separators within the space. The arches are clad in a clay based plaster with a subtle gradient color, ranging from a lighter base to a darker shade. Illumination from between the arches further emphasizes the gradient effect.

Salon L’OCCOCO in Jalisco, México by COTAPAREDES Arquitectos

Monday, November 5th, 2018

Article source: COTAPAREDES Arquitectos

Located in the city of Guadalajara Jalisco this project meant our incursion into the commercial genre.

The client commissioned us to redesign the brand of beauty salons L’OCCOCÓ, one of the largest franchises of beauty salons in Mexico. They wanted to reflect an image of elegance with the necessary character so that the clients felt identified with the brand.

The exercise began by analyzing the existing salons, understanding the dynamics of use, the furniture necessary for the performance of salon activities, the flows of customers and staff and the optimal spaces to work freely. Our language had to simplify the current, to purify it, we had to identify the indispensable and readjust what could be adapted in another way.
