Refurbishment of an old Marketplace in Alcaniz, Spain by Miquel mariné+césar rueda boné

Thursday, March 15th, 2012

Article source: Miquel mariné+césar rueda boné

The old marketplace of Alcañiz has not been home to a market for some years, but now it has once again become a part of the town square, an area for socializing, passing time, and education. The enormous space inside the building has been reconnected to its environment via the introduction of a newly built element. Independent of the existing structure, it is an exercise of occupation strategic, respectful and reversible. Its two levels are enclosed within a homogenous and continuous skin.

The main entrance, which was designed by LOVE, is situated on the main road – the busiest street in this part of the city. Parking garage Meksiko in Ljubljana, Slovenia by Darko Lečnik

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Article source: Darko Lečnik

The parking garage is located at the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana. The project was commissioned by a company that builds residential and commercial buildings in Slovenia and prepares sites for the Hofer commercial network. A condition of the investor was that a classic HOFER supermarket had to be located on the ground floor in the standard form and dimensions of Hofer shops throughout Europe. The task was a very difficult one for designers, since the structural grid used in HOFER shops do not correspond to the grid required for the rational design of a parking garage.

Mini Mall in Rotterdam, Holland by PEÑA architecture & AFARAI

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Article source: PEÑA architecture & AFARAI

Mini Mall: A shopping mall with a compact, contemporary programme in a monumental building.

The Mini Mall consists of 2500 sq. m. of retail and catering space for entrepreneurs, artists, designers and other creative minds, who will breathe new life into this unique area as from spring 2011. The development of the Hofplein Station into a compact shopping mall comes in response to a lack of affordable locations in Rotterdam where fresh new initiatives can see the light of day, but also with the aim to give the neighborhood quality boost.
