Spoonfed in Los Angeles, California by Bureau of Architecture and Design

Inspiration behind the Design

All good design, good architecture, relates to its environs; as well as the program or function of the space. SPOONFED is located in a new modern building so first and foremost that informed the design as we strove to create a clean, almost minimal feel with playful bursts of vibrant color. The other main inspiration is owner Sean Loeffel’s robust zest for life and hospitality. His personality and vision emanates throughout the space and dining experience. Who Sean is inspired everything, from the color palette to the materiality to the spatial flow to the detailing.

Showroom Objekto in Peynier, France by Michaël Menuet Architecte

Thursday, October 4th, 2018

Article source: Michaël Menuet Architecte

The rehabilitation of this barn in the countryside outside of Aix-en-Provence gives Objekto, a furniture distribution company, an unusual showcase. The creations of Brazilian designers such as Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Mauricio Klabin and Rafic Farah are displayed with a view of Sainte-Victoire Mountain, in the heart of the Provence region.

The building retains its existing volume, and its gable roof is slightly raised to obtain a comfortable ceiling height on the first floor. Half of the floor was redone in poured concrete to create an easily convertible single level. The central shear wall is separated from the facade walls for more fluidity. It outlines the four areas of the project: reception and storage room on the ground floor, office and showroom upstairs.
