From the future archaeological perspective for human civilization, stories about the reconstruction and rebirth of industrial remains are narrated.
Ocean is of special significance for human civilization. In most historic narratives, ocean is not only the starting point of new worlds, but the origin of all lives; it carries the initiative for expanding boundaries and exploring the unknown, and sows into human DNAs the seed for tracing to source.
The store is located in the newly completed K11 MUSEA. The huge business complex containing K11 MUSEA sits in Tsim Sha Tsui and is adjacent to the Victoria Habour, with Central standing on the other bank. The view of the prosperous metropolis well known across the globe for the past century has been interacting with the primitive but perpetual force from the sea.
The store is located in an important commercial area of Buenos Aires, in front of one of the busiest bike-paths in the city.
The project arises from the need to duplicate the sq ft of the existing store, due to the exponential growth of the company. Nowadays, the 4000 sq ft are distributed in three floors: 1st is the main shop, workshop and patio; 2nd is the warehouse and product development area; 3rd is for main offices, meeting room, dining room and terrace.
Gabriela Hearst, the sustainable global fashion brand with an uncompromising commitment to the environment, has opened its first London outpost, designed by Foster + Partners. Having created a pioneering model for ecologically responsible clothing and accessories, the New York-based label’s first London store is underpinned by a similar sustainable ethos and care for the environment in its materiality and operation.
Norman Foster, Founder and Executive Chairman, Foster + Partners said: “I was inspired by Gabriela’s tireless commitment to sustainability, which fits perfectly with our own enthusiasm for design that demonstrates concern for the environment. The store echoes this approach by using local and recycled materials, to create an inviting experience for customers.”
Liquor stores are ubiquitous in their urban presence, often muted in their expression, and relentlessly generic in their architectural design. Function dictates form, resulting in characterless boxes that contribute little to the eclectic vitality of high street commercial frontages. Our client encouraged us to challenge the pre-conceived ideas of this retail design typology, to develop a unique building form that would function independently as a successful retail space in a neighbourhood that has been devoid of significant commercial growth in recent years.
The 100 sq m retail restoration project for Selo brand of handmade shoes inspired MNMA studio to create a kind of brief escapism atmosphere.
The studio’s core process of developing ideas from outside to inside and the pursuit of a fluid circulation led to the final layout and the sidewalk alignment as a continuum, so to offer seamless accessibility for all.
OMA / Ellen van Loon and Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli will design the new KaDeWe department store and hotel in Vienna’s Museumsquartier. This was announced after a final jury meeting on October 1, concluding a design competition organized by the developer Signa.
Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli and Ellen van Loon: “The value of department stores should be measured by their ability to engage the local context. We are very excited about the opportunity to work in the historical heart of Vienna, and with this project we intend to highlight its qualities. The building is not an icon but rather an architectural device that establishes new urban connections and public spaces through its own internal organisation.”
With consumption upgrade in China driving iteration of commercial scenes, Towodesign, a Chinese design studio which excels at reorganizing spaces in a balanced and coordinated manner, created a unique experiential store that fuses retro atmosphere and contemporary elements in downtown Shanghai.
The project is situated on Nanjing West Road, Shanghai, adjacent to Jing’an Temple which boasts a history of more than a thousand years. The designers retained a large area of concrete floor in the original space, and added bespoke metal elements to the interior, with a view to striking a balance between roughness and exquisiteness.
Located in the Templeton Gap area of West Paso Robles, California, this simple agricultural storage structure rests at the toe of the 50-acre James Berry Vineyard and the adjacent winery sitting just over 800 feet away. This structure is completely self-sufficient and operates independently from the energy grid, maximizing the structure’s survivability and resilience. Designed as a modern pole barn, the reclaimed oil field drill stem pipe structure’s primary objectives are to provide an armature for a photovoltaic roof system that offsets more than 100% of power demands on the winery and to provide covered open-air storage for farming vehicles and their implements, workshop and maintenance space, and storage for livestock supplies.
Payi-Payi Departmental store is concept evolved from the new age retail in the era of stiff competition from e-commerce. The design was un-conventional attempt for the typology of the space.
Inaugurated in April 2017, the Càos store is the last of the projects carried out by the Tuscan volcanic entrepreneur Silvia Bini, a reference name for fashion on the Italian and international scene.
