Melting Pot in New York City by HartnessVision and YGS

New York City AIDS Memorial Park Competition

The combined site is experienced through the 2 ramped passageways,  that begin and end at the same place but remain separate. “Health “–  embodied by the verdant park, benches, and vegetation– surrounds  “Infection”–symbolized by an isolated ramp. The two realities are visible  to each other but separated by a glass enclosure.

Student Salon in London, UK by Feix&Merlin

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

Article source: Feix&Merlin

THE STUDENT SALON NOW

The LSE’s student salon is currently an unsuccessful space: Its walls are cluttered with unsightly alarm sounders, fire extinguishers and cable trunking, a big vending maching in front of the window blocks views in and out of the space and the big recycling bins are in everybody’s way. The lighting is mismatched and inappropriate for the type of use and the furniture is neither inviting nor comfortable. The space is quite simply not very attractive.

Competition Entry for Bispevika Development in Norway by PUSHAK

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Article source: PUSHAK

Rich nature meets rich urbanity of Oslo’s new social hub.

When this new harbour area is fully developed the opening to the fjord will appear relatively narrow. PUSHAK proposes a new road north-south that turns and opens to the fjord. Three courts open towards – and frame – the view to the islands. The three water basins serve as a physical separation between the busy public spaces outside the courts, and the courtyard which only belongs to the residences. At the same time a tension is maintained between public and private: a glimpse into the lush dwelling yard, a look out on the city’s pulse. A number of pavilions add to the filtering between public and private, as well as creating a sunny wall to sit against for enjoying a cold drink on summer days.
