Jean d’Ormesson Media Library in La Ferté Bernard, France by Agence Philippe Fichet

Thursday, August 30th, 2018

Article source: Agence Philippe Fichet

From the Architect

The place affirms its liberty and appears free from the barely solemn city, only defined by a nick of water and trees who crystalize History on this very site. Nothing stands up to this geographical feature. There, a very vivid and live passage, a bridge, and the beyond — the inner city border, the one of links and connections.

Located East, in the Ferté Bernard, Sartre area, the Jean d’Ormesson media library is set in a dense urban area, at the heart of the city. The 1800m² lot is situated on the edge of the old town and the river that surrounds it.

Esquire Office in New Delhi, India by Studio Bipolar

Monday, August 13th, 2018

Article source: Studio Bipolar

Esquire being an American men’s magazine, published in the United States, is one which screams sophistication, yet it accomplishes this in a quirky and whimsical tone.

This thought was to be carried out in the design of their own branded nightclub in the heart of new delhi. For the sole purpose of supervision over the nightclub and its administration, Esquire needed a workspace to be developed for them in Defence Colony Market, New Delhi. This work hub was being developed for the “creative owners of a nightclub” and the design had to reflect this very aspect as well.

Country House – Sapucaí-Mirim / MG in Brazil by APBA – Arquiteto Paulo Bastos e Associados

Thursday, August 9th, 2018

Article source: APBA – Arquiteto Paulo Bastos e Associados

Designed in the early 1980s, this country house was completed in 2014, two years after the death of its author, Architect Paulo Bastos, in 2012. Built in Sapucaí-Mirim, a city located by Serra da Mantiqueira, a mountain range that separates the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, the residence was inserted in a natural glade into the woods. The location was carefully chosen by the author, in absolute respect and harmony with the existing vegetation, abundant in Araucárias, large trees indigenous of this mountainous region.

Harmonic Turbine Tidal Hotel in Wenchang Shi, China by Margot Krasojević Architects

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018

Article source: v2com

The hotel harnesses tidal energy to generate electricity. The idea was to redefine the hotel typology by embracing renewable energy to create a sustainable environment. This is the last of three tidal projects using the project brief to further underline the importance of inter-disciplinary dialogue between architecture, engineering, renewable energy and industrial design.

The hotel is located on Yalong Bay, on the island of Hainan in the South China seas. Along the bay’s coastline there are sheltered areas but also sections which are a high-energy site exposed to winds and high waves, this is where the harmonic turbine hotel sits, partly anchored into the coastline’s rock with its elements free to gently move with the tide. Revolving water turbines are partially buried in the sand and respond to tidal waves creating a sustainable infrastructure as part of the hotel’s design.

“Ampersand” Co-working – Bnei Brak in Israel by Shirli Zamir Design Studio

Thursday, June 28th, 2018

Article source: Shirli Zamir Design Studio

“Ampersand” in Bnei Brak is a unique Co-working project. It started from two orthodox initiators who had a dream to bring work spaces that in terms of design and concept bring Manhattan to Bnei Brak. Bnei Brak is a city near Tel-Aviv, populated mostly by orthodox Jews. It is crowded and tumultuous but has a magic of its own. There is a growing need in integrating the orthodox community into the local Hi-Tech market. The project provides work space for orthodox start-ups and in addition, supplies work stations and workers from the orthodox local community, to work for big companies like Google, Microsoft and more.

Article source: Minggu Design

Bamboo’s Eatery, having three decks totally, faces the local street exactly with intervention of Dissipation philosophy and plain bamboo made vessels with implication of modest persons. The architect tended to fulfil a kind of establishment ideally. Establishment is proximately civil engineering in folk, which is not subject to serious architecture yet. The emerged experience generated from the built space just placed such dissipation into the re-arranged spatial order.
