BUS STATION CANOPIES in Rotterdam, Netherlands by MAXWAN architects + urbanists

Thursday, March 5th, 2015

Article source: MAXWAN architects + urbanists

Large budgets and enormous amounts of energy are spent on the upgrading of major Dutch railway stations in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Rotterdam. The efforts at creating quality environments related to public transport should not be limited to the station building itself. By paying close attention to all public space surrounding the railway hubs, the promise of true Transport Oriented Development can be kept alive. Maxwan’s plans for Rotterdam Central District emphasize the quality of that public space.

560 Vinson in Fayetteville, Arkansas by Modus Studio

Tuesday, February 24th, 2015

Article source: Modus Studio

Empowered by their love of place and a history of previous renovations, the owners of this Mt. Sequoyah property sought a complete transformation for their modest ranch-style home. They came to us for a creative and modern approach to design that would provide natural light and views throughout the project. With deep ties to the surrounding neighborhood, there was also a desire to tastefully censor the adjacent homes without completely severing their connection to this charming community.

Our client aim is to build a housing complex with an earth and nature friendly lifestyle by considering aesthetic values. Cafe Bookstore by Aydin Gürsel Bakir – Natselane

Thursday, February 5th, 2015

Article source: Aydin Gürsel Bakir – natselane

The outher shape of this “cafe bookstore” was inspired by that of a book. The users can also read books in its cafe for free or take the time to buy some in the bookstore. In the cafe, books can be borrowed and consulted while the books you find in the bookstore are for sale. The bookshelves used within it have been established in the exterior section on the same axis and thanks to this display window on the outside, the interiors have been rendered to appear on the same axis.

Botella verde in Mérida, México by Workshop, diseño y construcción

Thursday, January 29th, 2015

Article source: Workshop architects

La Botella Verde, “The Green Bottle”, is a new and casual bistro/store located in one of the hottest spots in Mérida, Saint Lucia’s Park. A relaxed atmosphere can be found within the revitalized space where you can enjoy a glass of wine with their appetizers.

Over the past year, Mérida’s historic downtown in Southeastern Mexico has enjoyed a comeback. Former colonial homes and XIX and XX century mansions are being restored to their former glory and Saint Lucia’s Park is part of that. With its historical features such as towering arches, the building was erected in the XIX century as a place to gather and enjoy what the city had to offer. With the passing of time, the building was abandoned and closed until a couple of years ago when its new owners restored it and offered spaces up for rent; most spaces were filled by restaurants, hearkening back to the building’s origins.
