Sky Light Pavilion by Nimbu

Saturday, May 12th, 2012

Article source: Nimbu

The conception of an architecture pavilion that is universal, timeless and spaceless shouldn’t be connected with the idea of conceiving a meaningless construction. Instead, an architecture pavilion that intent to be contemporary should be a construction that pursuit the architecture itself. Finnish architect Juhani Pallasmaa says that the renewal of an art, whatever it may be, means rediscovering its deepest essence, and that architecture is a direct expression of the existence, of the human presence in the world.

Article source: Klingmann Architects + Brand Consultants

KABC’s vision for the development of the innovative office and research center in the Hai Chuang Yuan Community reflects the goals of the new high technology research campus, which promotes a new paradigm for research and development campuses in the region. Sustainability is at the core of the architectural expression, encompassing environmental, social, economic and cultural sustainability by fostering community and promoting new techniques and technologies. As one approaches the innovative office and research center in the Hai Chuang Yuan Community , the buildings immediately captivate the passerby with their iconic presence. Freestanding on the site, they read as transparent, geometrical, glazed forms floating as visually light, crystalline structures above the landscape.

L’ovella Negra Bar in Thessalonika, Greece by Alexios Vandoros

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

L’ovella Negra

At the streets Syggrou and Valaoritou takes place a new urban transformation of the city of Thessaloniki, Greece. The old small industry shops are converted to coffee-bars, pubs, alternative restaurants…

The area combines the old with the new, the alternative with the common. And, basically, ‘cheap’ entertainment..

A new place was created there, a coffee-bar, in a building that is said to be the oldest in the town of Thessaloniki. It was built at the end of the 19th century, and was the private house of the famous merchant ‘Allatini’, known as such since 1926.

Clini´c T in Lisboa, Portugal by Pedra Silva Architects

Friday, April 20th, 2012

Article source: Pedra Silva Architects

Why do healthcare spaces have to be cold spaces?

This has been the underlying question since the beginning of our proposal. In fact there are several activities that go on in a clinical space, some regarding actual medical treatments and others related with social and reception areas. Although one might consider the treatment areas to be central in a dental clinic, this project aims to reinforce the social and humane side of healthcare facilities, by proposing two distinct and opposite environments: the clinic space and the social space. The first is a rigorous, hygienic and professional space, mainly in white materials, that aspires to provide confidence and serenity to the patient. The second is a space for meeting, relaxing and comfort, a way to distance the patient from the clinical mindset.

Friday, April 20th, 2012

Article source: ippolito fleitz group

Bella Italia is a wine store as well as a restaurant. The owner is a typical warmhearted Sicilian woman. While selling the products of her home country and offering a creative home-style cuisine on an upscale level she transfers the Italian spirit to Germany. “Bella Italia Weine” was run for many years in a small living-room-like place with a very personal atmosphere. To extend the sales area as well as the capacity of seats she decided to move to a new location.

New Church of Våler Proposal in Norway by Francesco Fiotti (designed with 3DS Max)

Thursday, April 19th, 2012

Article source: Francesco Fiotti

Our proposal for the New Church of Våler is placed in the southern part of the project area in continuity with the ancient church, attempting to recover not only the orientation of it, but also the memory. The proposed design refers at the boat: the boat as a symbol of Christianity that welcomes and protects within it the faithful; the Drakkar as tribute at the exploratory tradition of the Norwegian people.

Article source: za bor architects

Yandex, the largest Russian IT company has recently opened its new office in Odessa, Ukraine. It is located on the 8th floor of ‘Morskoy-2’ business center. A 1760 sq. m. office is arranged around a light shelf and is tailored for 122 workplaces. Close to the atrium are the spaces, with no need for intensive lighting — meeting rooms, lecture hall and other premises, which are not used on a regular basis. Work areas are open-space and are mainly located along the windows. The windows, by the way, are facing the Black Sea and the picturesque port of Odessa. There are just several separated premises here: coffee-point, meeting rooms, canteen, and the sports zone, with table tennis, foosball, cardio-vascular machines and gymnastic accessories.
