Mountain Guest House in Barcelona, Spain by Dom – arquitectura

Thursday, January 15th, 2015

Article source: Dom – arquitectura

The existing volume could not be changed, so we adapt the guest house program to it.

First of all we covered with insulation and waterproofing the roof, and then we did the same with the facades and interior space.

The idea is to open the inside space to outside, so the users could be available to enjoy the large garden with views. The cover is extended with a new wicker pergola with iron structure, so we can increase the terrace space and visitors will be more in touch with the garden, the nature and the orchard.

TWO HOUSES CONDE in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Hitzig Militello arquitectos (HMA)

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Article source: Hitzig Militello arquitectos (HMA)

Connections

From the beginning this project had to respond to two different voices, or two clients. Both required the same amount of square meters for their future homes. It is perhaps the greatest achievement of this project, having understood how to complete the entire buildable volume equally for both owners, and without losing the ability to have access to almost all of the terrain. The strategy chosen was to cross-distribute the meters that corresponded to each owner, so that both units rotate through the central axis of the patio in a centrifugal manner. To achieve the crossed connection of the two properties without wasting useful meters, we took the decision to “externalize” the stairs, like sleeve-bridges connecting both units.

New Calais conference centre in France by Arte Charpentier Architectes

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Article source: v2com

Arte Charpentier, the lead architect, will design the new Centre de Congrès et de Spectacles de Calais, in partnership with Abciss-Architectes, as part of a consortium led by the Rabot Dutilleul Group.

Arte Charpentier Architectes presented an ambitious plan for the major cultural facility, to be located on an 18,000 sqm oceanfront site. Featuring rounded contours, it is designed to make the most of the site’s exceptional views: the port to the east; the sea and spa district to the north; and to the south, the city and its historic monuments such as the Risban fort, lighthouse, watchtower and City Hall. The conference and performing arts centre is a strong iconic structure that will focus perspective, giving it more power without concealing the sea view and providing instant appeal to the waterfront.

2014 ISAF Sailing World Championship Facilities in Santander, Spain by AZPML

Wednesday, January 7th, 2015

Article source: AZPML

The project for the storage facilities of the High Performance National Sailing Centre, located in Santander, consists in consolidating the previous obsolete storage buildings for a single container over which we have planned a public rooftop. The project presents the problem of integrating in a limited space two activities that must be physically segregated, – i.e. private of use of the CEAR and public use of the canopy – while simultaneously creating a whole whose parts harmoniously coexist. Our proposal is to extend the public space above ground level, ensuring both storage and public space functions can be combined through an unconventional approach to public space design.
