JADE Apartments in Sydney’s CBD by Tony Owen Partners

The Jade apartment tower by Tony Owen partners has just been completed in the centre of Sydney’s CBD. The 15-storey tower consists of 27 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, plus double-level penthouses with a vaulted glass ceilings.

Ananda Building in Fuenlabrada, Madrid by Espegel – Fisac Arquitectos

The program specified by the owner-developer, was the construction of a block of flats with basement, garage, storage rooms and facilities rooms. We propose a very compact volume of 18 dwellings with a standard program: 12 three-bedroom dwellings and 6 four–bedrooms dwellings, with the aim of achieving the maximum efficiency in the use of the floor area.

Residence 1414 Renovation in Austin, Texas by Miró Rivera Architects

This project consisted of a complete renovation of a house located in a historic neighborhood. The original 1940’s house suffered an unfortunate addition in the 1980’s. The main goals of the project were to restore the house of the 40’s vocabulary on the exterior while transforming the interiors to bring more light and provide a better connection with a fantastic backyard. A simple material palette was used to maintain a balance between the traditional aspects of the original house and the modern updates.

herbertarchitekten are currently planning a boarding school for the Bildungs- und Technologiezentrum für Elektro- und Informationstechnik e.V. in Lauterbach, Germany . The new building replaces an existing building.

A previously conducted feasibility study brought the result that the reconstruction and modernization of the existing building is not economical.

In one of its high-end apartment complexes, a new water feature created with Banker Wire mesh, emphasizes the connection between Studio City and the movie industry – and provides a canvas for multimedia entertainment.

The house is located in a conventional land inside a gated community, west of Guadalajara’s metropolitan area. Is has a north orientation towards the street and south on the back, leaving a free area on the side facing west.

The project begins at the idea of making a house with the minimum ofwalls to feel it completely transparent and openfrom the entry. We decided to make a big hole inside that takes back the old spanish patio, being the protagonist of the residence.

The requirements for this project called for the design of a small home that would respond to the evolving life needs of a young couple, with two small boys, who intend to live their lives here for the next half century.  A significant spatial challenge from the start of the project was that the maximum allowable width of the house could only be twenty-four feet, hence the house would necessarily need to be long; because windows on the long sides of the home were greatly restricted by zoning regulations, there was an immediate design challenge to bring light into the long interior volume that otherwise would be dark.

The commission was to develop a house under the standards of the real estate business, a basic and optimized program complemented to a strategy of exterior terraces and main rooms open to panoramic views.

Considering the terraced, square site with an average slope, with “moments” with an ocean view, we decided to set back the house to the back of the site, constituting a broad and long facade, taking the highest point of the site and a more panoramic view of the environment.
